2 Using Insight managed system setup wizard

You can use the managed system setup wizard for analyzing systems and for configuring systems to be managed by HP SIM and its plug-in applications.

After selecting systems to be managed, you configure management features for the target systems.

NOTE: Using the Insight managed system setup wizard requires the System Setup toolbox authorization in HP SIM.

Authorize the System Setup toolbox on the CMS to allow use of the managed system setup wizard. Authorize this toolbox on each managed system that will be configured using the managed system setup wizard.

NOTE: To add licenses using the managed system setup wizard you must have the following HP

SIM Users tab option checked: “User can configure CMS security access such as creating, modifying or removing other users”.

This option is configured using the Options→Security→Users & Authorizations menu.

Starting Insight managed system setup wizard

One instance of the Insight managed system setup wizard can run at a time in Systems Insight Manager.

You can start the managed system setup wizard using any of these methods in HP SIM.

Select Configure→Managed System Setup Wizard... from the HP SIM top menu to start the managed system setup wizard.

If you have selected any systems in HP SIM then you are prompted to verify the target systems before the wizard operates on the systems. Otherwise you are prompted to select the target systems that the managed system setup wizard will operate on.

Use the Quick Launch... menu in HP SIM to start the managed system setup wizard. The wizard operates on the systems you have selected.

Click a link to the managed system setup wizard on an HP SIM page. Various HP SIM pages such as the Home page and Discovery page may include a link to the wizard.

Insight managed system setup wizard starts in a new browser window. This enables you to still use the original HP SIM window, if needed, while completing steps of the wizard.

NOTE: You must set your web browser to allow HP SIM to open pop-up windows. Otherwise the managed system setup wizard will not be able to start in a new window.

NOTE: For HP SIM, the minimum supported screen resolution is 1024x768 with 256 colors.

The wizard works best with a screen resolution of 1280x1024 or better and will require additional scrolling when the resolution is set to 1024x768.

Listing the current version

Select Help→About in HP SIM to list the installed version of the managed system setup wizard and other plug-in applications.

If you selected systems in HP SIM before running the wizard then it operates on the selected systems.
