Version

The
PCI-X

SCSI
RAID
Adapter
requires
Version
1
of
the
iprconfig
utility
for
2.4
based
kernels
and
version
2.x.x
for
2.6
based
kernels.
To
verify
the
version
number
of
the
iprconfig
utility,
do
the
following:
1.
If
necessary,
log
in
as
root
user.
2.
Type:
iprconfig
--version
Press
Enter.
The
following
is
an
example
of
the
data
that
displays
on
your
screen:

Note:
The
version
displayed
in
the
example
might
be
different
from
the
output
displayed
on
your
screen.
If
the
version
displayed
is
not
at
the
recommended
level
and
updates
are
needed,
obtain
them
from
your
Linux
distributor
or
download
them
from
the
IBM
StorageIO
Web
site.

Installing
the
Downloaded
Device
Driver
and
Utility
Software
Software
required
for
the
PCI-X
Dual
Channel
Ultra320
SCSI
RAID
Adapter
is
usually
installed
when
the
Linux
operating
system
is
installed.
Software
installation
is
not
necessary
unless
verification
has
failed.
If
it
is
necessary
to
install
software,
obtain
it
from
one
of
the
following
sources
in
the
order
listed:
1.
Your
supported
Linux
operating
system
CD-ROM
2.
Your
Linux
distributor
3.
Online
at
the
IBM
StorageIO
Web
site:
http://www-124.ibm.com/storageio/ipr/
After
downloading
the
needed
software
package,
install
the
software
by
continuing
with
the
instructions
in
this
section.
Then,
return
to
“Verifying
Linux
Software
Installation”
on
page
16,
and
follow
the
procedure
to
ensure
that
the
installation
was
successful.
Installing
Device
Driver
Software
The
ipr
device
driver
is
available
in
the
base
2.6
kernel
as
of
version
2.6.7-rc1.
Additional
driver
updates
may
be
available
on
the
IBM
StorageIO
Web
site
as
mentioned
above.
These
patches
may
be
downloaded
and
installed
like
any
other
kernel
patch.
The
ipr
device
driver
is
not
in
the
base
2.4
kernel
and
must
be
downloaded
from
http://www-124.ibm.com/storageio/ipr/
in
the
form
of
a
kernel
patch
if
not
available
as
part
of
your
distribution.
If
you
downloaded
an
ipr
device
driver
patch,
do
the
following:
1.
Turn
on
the
power
to
your
system
unit.
2.
At
the
system
prompt,
log
in
as
root
user.
3.
Uncompress
and
apply
the
patch
by
typing:
cd
/usr/src/linux
wget
http://www-124.ibm.com/storageio/ipr/patch-2.4.26-ipr-1.0.5.gz
gunzip
patch-2.4.26-ipr-1.0.5.gz

Compile

install
the
device
driver.

compiling

2.4
kernel,

is
selected.
