1POWER button (17)
Turns the unit on or off (standby).
2STANDBY indicator
Lights when the power cord is connected and the unit is on standby. When the unit is turned on, the STANDBY indicator goes off.
33D PHONIC button (32)
Produces a simulated surround effect.
4Remote sensor
Receives the signal from the remote control unit.
5Display window
Indicates the current status of the unit.
6 # (PLAY) button (18)
Starts playback. Also, used as a SELECT button for PBC of Video CDs.
7 7 (STOP) button (18)
Stops playback.
8 8 (PAUSE) button (18)
Pauses playback.
9SHUTTLE knob (18)
Performs rapid advance/reverse playback operations. Also used for
0 4 ¢ (SKIP) buttons (19)
Performs skipping a chapter, title or track.
Also used for the page selection of a menu screen (for DVD).

Opens and closes the disc tray.
