Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm

The carbon monoxide (CO) alarm constantly monitors the air for the presence of CO. It will alarm when there are high levels of CO present, and when there are low levels of CO p resent over a longer period of time (see Page 20 for alarm times). When a CO condition matches either of these situations, the alarm/voice message warning system will sound, accompanied by the flashing red LED light.

The carbon monoxide sensor uses an electro ch e m i c a l t e ch n o l o gy.

C AU T I O N : This alarm will only indicate the presence

of carbon monoxide gas at the sensor. Carbon monoxide gas may be present in other are a s .

This device is designed to protect individuals from the acute effects of carbon monoxide exposure. It will not fully safeguard individuals with specific medical conditions. If in doubt consult a medical practitioner.

Installation of the device should not be used as a substitute fo r p roper installation, u s e ,and maintenance of fuel-burning

a p p l i a n c e s ,i n cluding appropriate ventilation and ex h a u s t s y s t e m s .

Individuals with medical problems may consider using w a rning devices which provide audible and visual signals for carbon monoxide concentrations under

30 ppm.

Never ignore the sound of an alarm!

Determining what type of alarm has sounded is easy with the Combination Smoke/CO Alarm.

The voice message warning system will inform you of the type of hazard occurring.

Installation

Installing Batteries

Batteries were not installed at the factory and must be installed for the unit to operate! Install the three (3)

AA batteries in the back of the Smoke/CO Alarm.

The mounting plate must be removed from the

back of the alarm to install batteries. To detach, twist the mounting plate and the alarm in opposite directions.

The battery polarity markings on the bottom of the battery compartment must be adhered to.

Batteries must be installed in the sequence shown. If batteries seem difficult to install, they’re not being installed in the proper sequence.

Smoke/CO Alarm will not engage to bracket unless all three batteries are installed. Removal of any or all batteries will render the Smoke/CO Alarm inoperative!

After the batteries are correctly installed the unit will beep once and the red LED light will flash. After 20-30 seconds the green LED light will flash indicating the unit is now operational.

KN-COSM-BCA specifications

The Kidde KN-COSM-BCA is a highly rated combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm designed to enhance home safety. This device integrates advanced technologies that provide comprehensive protection against two of the most critical household threats: fire and toxic gas exposure.

One of the standout features of the KN-COSM-BCA is its dual-sensor technology, which combines both photoelectric and ionization sensors. The photoelectric sensor is especially effective at detecting smoldering fires, which often produce a large amount of smoke without an open flame. On the other hand, the ionization sensor is more responsive to fast-burning fires, ensuring that users are alerted promptly in the event of any fire emergency. This combination ensures a higher level of accuracy in distinguishing between potential threats, thus reducing the chances of nuisance alarms.

Carbon monoxide detection is another critical component of the Kidde KN-COSM-BCA. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be lethal even in small amounts. The alarm features a powerful CO sensor designed to detect dangerous levels of carbon monoxide quickly and accurately. The device's LED display shows real-time CO levels, allowing users to be informed about their indoor air quality at a glance.

Another key characteristic of the Kidde KN-COSM-BCA is its voice alarm feature. Instead of just a series of beeps, the alarm announces the type of hazard detected, either “Fire” or “Warning: Carbon Monoxide.” This clear communication helps users quickly understand the nature of the threat, facilitating timely responses and safety measures.

The device is equipped with a hush feature to temporarily silence unwanted alarms, making it convenient during cooking or other activities that may trigger false alarms. Additionally, its battery-operated system, backed by a reliable lithium battery, ensures that the alarm remains functional even during power outages, enhancing household safety at all times.

Furthermore, the Kidde KN-COSM-BCA comes with a test/reset button, allowing users to regularly check the functionality of the unit, ensuring peace of mind. Its sleek design enables easy installation in various locations throughout the home, from hallways to bedrooms.

In summary, the Kidde KN-COSM-BCA stands out due to its dual-sensor technology, advanced carbon monoxide detection, clear vocal alerts, and user-friendly features, making it an essential addition to any safety-conscious household.
