Troubleshooting
If you suspect any malfu nction, check the following suggestions. If the problem per-
sists, contact your nearest Korg distributor.
Power does not turn on · Make sure t hat the AC adapter is properly connected to the SP-170 and the AC outlet.
· Make sure t hat the power switch on the rear panel is set to ON.
No sound from the speakers · Rotate the [VOLUME] knob on the rear panel toward MA X.
· The speakers w ill be muted if the headphones are connected.
Sound is interrupted · The pres et sou nds of the SP-170 have been create d by sampli ng (reco rding) the
sounds of actual instru ments, the n analyz ing and processin g the samples. When
you pre ss a key, so me sou nds p lay a singl e piec e of sample d data , whi le ot her
sounds play two pieces of sampled data. The SP-170 uses two pieces of data for most
of its preset sounds. When one of t hese two-sample sounds is s elected (regardless of
whether the da mper pedal i s being pr essed), the max imum polyphony is 60 notes.
However, with two Piano sounds, the maximum polyphony is 120 notes. If the maxi-
mum polyphony is exceeded, some of the notes will be lost.
The pitch or tone of the piano sound s wrong in some key regions
·
The SP-170’s piano sounds replicate the sound of an actual piano as faithfully as pos-
sible. This mean s that i n some reg ions of t he keyboard, you may feel that the over-
tones seem stronger, or that the tone or pitch seems wrong. This is not a m alfunction
.
Pedal is not effective · Ma ke sure that the pedal cable is properly connect ed.
Connected MIDI device does no t respond to MIDI messages
· Make sure t hat all MIDI cables are properly connected.
· Make sure that the SP-170 is transmiing MIDI data on the same MIDI cha nnel as
that of the connected MIDI device.
