Basketball Shoot-Out – Early Multiplication

For 2 Players or 2 Teams

How to play the game:

Use the orange number three, four, and five bean bags for this game. On your turn, take all three bean bags and toss them one at a time into the pockets. Each time a bean bag misses the board completely or does not land inside a pocket, it is “out of bounds.” Once you have tossed all three bean bags, your turn is over. It is now the next player’s turn.

Scoring:

The point values for the pockets are:

Red Basket = 1 x number on the bean bag

Orange Basket = 2 x number on the bean bag

Blue Basket = 3 x number on the bean bag

Out of Bounds = 0

For each bean bag that lands in a pocket, multiply the number on the bean bag by the point value on the pocket. Record the equation with the highest point value on the score sheet. That is your score for that shot. See scoring example below.

After 10 shots, add up your scores to get your final score. The player with the highest score wins   the game!

For team play, switch players after each shot.

Variation:

Choose any three bean bags to practice different multiplication facts.
