ASSIGNING A CHANNEL FOR MODULATED SIGNAL

To Program the Modulator to a CATV Channel (Figure 2 and 3)

To view your modulated output (DVD, VCR, satellite) on a specific channel in your incoming CATV line-up, you will need to program that channel into the Modulator.

1.Select which channel you want to use for modulated input. To avoid interference or signal disruption, select an unused channel with adjacent unused channels. For best results, select a channel between 76-79, and use a Notch Filter (PN# 47690-NFA) between the incoming CATV cable and the CATV input of your 3x8 Bi-Directional Video Module. The Notch Filter blocks out incoming cable channels 75-80, leaving them free to carry Modulator input without interference or disruption.

NOTE: When choosing a channel, choose a channel between 14 and 125, excluding channels 95 through

99.Do not use channels 95-99 or any channel below 14. If combining with an antenna system, use a channel between 14-69. If combining with a cable television system, choose a channel between 70-

94or 100-125.

2.With the power turned off at the SMC Modulator, remove the partially inserted screw from the bottom cover. Rotate the cover to open and locate the channel programmer switches and gain adjustment screw. (Figure 2)

3.The channel is programmed by adding up the numbers which appear on the circuit board just below the programmer switches. (Figure 3) In the top example, the channel is set to UHF 48 by moving the “40” and “8” switches to the “on” position (e.g. 40+8=48).

4.Gain Adjustment: Match modulator signal strength with antenna/cable signal strength by turning the gain adjustment clockwise to increase or counter-clockwise to decrease modulator output.
