Mounting a Monopole Antenna to a Non-Conductive Surface

See Diagram L

Follow the instructions for mounting to a metal equipment rack, however, there are two additional steps:

1.Connect a length of flexible antenna (appropriate to the frequency you are using) on the ground post of the antenna module under the Hex Kep nut. You will NOT use the shorting plate in this con- figuration.

2.Drill a hole in the non-conductive sur- face and run the flexible antenna through the hole. This antenna will pro- vide the ground for your antenna since the non-conductive surface cannot sup- ply a ground.

If you are mounting the monopole upside down on a ceiling, run the flexible length inside the ceiling and stretch it out as far as possible from the monopole antenna ele- ment. Secure the antenna through the con- nection lug at the end of the wire.

tive surface. Use of the flexible wire creates a

dipole, which is a better antenna than the monopole.
