MAINTENANCE

MAINTENANCE

CAUTION :

Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the battery is disconnected from the tool before attempting to perform inspection or maintenance.

Blade maintenance

After use, clean off the blades (both sides) with a stiff brush. Then wipe the blades with a cloth and coat them with light machine oil.

CAUTION:

Dirt and corrosion cause excessive blade friction and shorten the operating time per battery charge.

Storage

Blade maintenance Do not clean the tool, charger and/or battery with benzine, thinner or cleaning chemi- cals. Cracks and discoloration may be caused.

Storage Do not store the tool, charger and/or battery in locations where the temperature may reach or exceed 40°C (104OF).

Manual background When storing the tool, use the convenient hole in the bottom of the tool handle to hang the tool on a wall from a nail or hook.

*The blade guard (blade cover) can be used as an oil reservoir as well as a convenient storage device for the tool while not in use. Secure the blade guard to the wall (out of the reach of children) using nails or screws. Fill the blade guard with mixed oil (motor oil : kerosene = 1 : 2) up to the line marked v . By storing your hedge trimmer with the shear blades inserted in the oil-filled blade guard, rust on the shear blades can be effectively prevented.

To maintain product SAFETY and RELlABl LITY, repairs, maintenance or adjustment should be performed by Makita Authorized or Factory Service Centers, always using Makita replacement parts.
