INTRODUCTION

To get the best out of your new appliance, please read this user guide carefully before using it for the first time. We also recommend that you keep the instructions for future reference, so that you can remind yourself of the functions of your appliance.

SAFETY MEASURES

General

Incorrect use of this appliance may cause personal injury and damage to the appliance.

Use for its intended purpose only. The manufacturer is not responsible for any injury or damage resulting from incorrect use or handling (see also Guarantee Terms).

For connection to 230 V, 50 Hz only. The appliance must be earthed.

For domestic use only. Not for outdoor or commercial use.

The appliance, cord or plug must not be placed in water or any other liquid.

Never touch the appliance, cord or plug with wet or damp hands.

Never leave the appliance unattended when it is switched on.

Keep children under supervision when in use.

Do not use if the exhaust filter (HEPA filter) motor filter and dust bag are not fitted, as this could damage the appliance.

Only use accessories manufactured or recommended by the manufacturer.

Use

Do not use it on wet surfaces.

Take particular care when vacuuming stairs, due to the risk of falling.

Do not use to vacuum up matches, hot ashes, cigarette butts, hard or sharp objects, wet or damp substances, combustible materials (petrol, solvents, etc.) or vapour from these.

Do not use to vacuum fine sand or dust – e.g. plaster, brick dust and the like.

Ensure that you keep clothing, hair and body parts away from the nozzle and moving parts of the appliance.

Do not cover the appliance’s suction or exhaust port.

Cord and plug

Keep the cord and appliance away from heat sources, hot objects and naked flames.

Switch the appliance off and unplug it when it is not in use, and before you change the dust bag and clean or replace the filters.

o Avoid pulling the cord when removing the plug from the socket. Instead, hold the plug.

o Hold the plug firmly while reeling the cord in to avoid it hitting the appliance or other nearby objects.

Check regularly that neither cord nor plug is damaged and do not use if they are, or if the appliance has been dropped or damaged in any other way.

If the appliance, cord or plug have been damaged, have them inspected and if necessary repaired by an authorised repair engineer. Never try to repair the appliance yourself. Please contact the store where you bought the appliance for repairs under guarantee. Unauthorised repairs or modifications to the appliance will invalidate the guarantee.

Batteries

Check plus and minus poles are correctly aligned since incorrectly inserted batteries may damage the appliance.

Remove the batteries from the handle, if the appliance is not to be used for a prolonged period.

Always replace both batteries at the same time.

Never mix different types of battery (e.g. manganese dioxide batteries and alkaline batteries), old and new batteries or different makes of batteries.

PREPARING THE APPLIANCE

IMPORTANT! Check exhaust filter (d) is correctly fitted before use. Open dust bag compartment to check motor filter and dust bag are correctly fitted (see Replacing filter and dust bag below).

The remote control in the handle (16) uses 2 AAA batteries.

o Remove the cover to the battery compartment (17) by depressing the lock dowel, lifting off the cover and place batteries.

o Check plus and minus poles are correctly aligned since incorrectly inserted batteries may damage the appliance. See the + and – symbols in the battery compartment.

o Click the battery cover back into place.

Fit the hose (18) by inserting it into the hose connector (3) so that the dowels (22) click into place and the hose is securely attached.

Fit telescopic tube (14) at opposite end of hose. Adjust the length of the telescopic tube by pushing the lock button (13) in the direction of the arrows and pulling or pushing the lower section of the tube.

Fit the nozzle required (19 or 21) to the telescopic tube.

USE

Pull the cord (11) out of the appliance. The cord may not be pulled out further than the red mark. Plug in and switch on the power.

Press the on/off button (7) to start and stop the appliance.

Suction is regulated using the control buttons (15) on the handle: o Press the button “+” (i) or “-“ (j) to increase or decrease suction. o Press the button Max (h) to switch to max suction.

o You can start and stop cleaning during use with the start/stop button (k). A red diode in the remote control port (6) lights up when the appliance is stopped.

The floor nozzle (19) bristles have two settings, which can be selected using the brush function buttons (20) on top of the nozzle.

o When cleaning hard surfaces (stone- or wooden flooring, etc.), the nozzle brushes should be extended.

o When cleaning carpets and rugs, the brushes should be retracted into the nozzle.

The bag change indicator (4) will normally be green. If it changes to red when the vacuum cleaner is in use, or if suction strength is significantly reduced, the dust bag needs changing (refer to Replacing filters and dust bag below).

IMPORTANT! If the suction strength of the appliance is reduced, the nozzle or hose may be blocked, filters may be blocked or dirty and the dust bag may be full. Never use the appliance if this is the case, as this will damage the motor irreparably. Immediately remove the cause of the blockage, clean the filters or replace dust bag.

IMPORTANT! The transmitter (g) in the handle and the remote control port on the appliance must not be covered, since this will prevent the signal from reaching its destination.
