INTRODUCTION

To get the best out of your new appliance, please read this user guide carefully before using it for the first time. Take particular note of the safety precautions. We also recommend that you keep the instructions for future reference, so that you can remind yourself of the functions of your appliance.

IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

The appliance may only be used for its original purpose.

The appliance is for indoor use only.

The appliance does not itself generate heat, but the heat from the pan used is transferred to the ceramic surface of the appliance, which can therefore get hot during use and may take a while to cool down afterwards.

Do not leave objects that may be damaged by a magnetic field (e.g. credit cards), close to the appliance when it is in use.

Do not place anything on the appliance other than the pan that is to be used. Magnetic metal objects will get hot if they are placed on the induction cooker when it is switched on.

Use only pans that are suitable for induction cookers.

Do not switch the appliance on unless there is a pan on it.

Use only pans with diameters that fit that of the cooker. Always place the pan in the middle of the cooker.

Never heat up an empty pan on the appliance.

The appliance, cord or plug must not be submerged in water or allowed to get wet.

Do not use the appliance if the cord or plug is damaged, if it is not functioning properly, or if it has been damaged by a heavy impact or similar.

Keep an eye on any children in the vicinity of the appliance when it is in use.

Remove the plug from the socket when cleaning, or when not in use.

Never try to repair the appliance yourself.

If the appliance, cable or plug needs to be repaired, it should be taken to an authorised service centre. Unauthorised repairs or modifications to the appliance will invalidate the guarantee. Please contact the store where you bought the appliance for repairs under guarantee.

Positioning the appliance

The appliance should be placed on a flat surface, with clearance of at least 10 cm on all sides (including the rear) to ensure sufficient ventilation. Check that the vent holes are not covered. If they are covered while the appliance is in use, there is a risk of it overheating.

Place the appliance at a safe distance from hot objects, e.g. a cooker or a fan heater.

The appliance should not be placed on rugs, cloths or other flammable materials, but instead on firm fibreboard or similar.

Do not allow the cord or any extension cable to hang over the edge of a table/counter, and keep it away from hot objects and naked flames.

HOW THE APPLIANCE FUNCTIONS

Function principle

The appliance uses magnetism instead of heat to cook food. The cooker contains what is known as an “induction coil”. When the appliance is switched on, power is sent to the induction coil, which creates a powerful magnetic field. The magnetic field creates eddy currents in the base of the pan, which are converted into heat energy, heating up the contents of the pan.

Induction cookers are more energy efficient than traditional cookers, as they have a thermal efficiency of more than 85 %, which also makes them very environment-friendly. The appliance reacts rapidly when you turn the heat up or down

– almost like a gas cooker.

Suitable cooking pans

The following pans can be used on the appliance:

Pans made of iron, cast iron, enamelled iron or stainless steel (if it is magnetic). The pan must have a level base, and its diameter at the base must be the same as that of the cooker, or it must be over 12 cm.

You can use a small magnet to test whether or not your pan is suitable for use with induction cookers. If the pan is magnetic, it can be used.

Unsuitable pans

The following pans cannot be used on the appliance:

Pans made of ceramic, glass, aluminium, copper and non- magnetic stainless steel; pans with an uneven (convex) base or with feet; or pans with a diameter at the base that is greater than that of the cooker or less than 12 cm.

If you place an unsuitable pan on the cooker and switch the appliance on, it beeps every two seconds to indicate that the selected pan is not suitable for induction cookers.
