Operating guidelines for first use:

11.Do not expose the appliance to rain or moisture and do not operate the appliance outdoors or with wet hands.

12.Use only clean cold water.

13.The appliance operates at very high temperatures and there is a danger of scalding from escaping water or steam. Do not touch any part of the kettle except the handle (when the appliance is in use) and ensure that the lid has been closed properly. This appliance is designed for heat- ing up of water only. Never put any other liquid into the kettle.

14.The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible.

15.If the kettle is overfilled, boiling wa- ter may be ejected.

16.WARNING – Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.

17.The kettle is only to be used with the base provided.

18.CAUTION – Ensure that the kettle is switched off before removing it from its base.

19.This appliance is intended to be used in households or other similar environments such as:

Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments

By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments

Farm houses

Bed and breakfast type environ- ments

Operating guidelines for first use:

1.Prior to initial use, clean the ap- pliance by going through several boiling cycles, using clean water with each cycle and filling the kettle

(4) to its upper marking. The water

will reach boiling point after ap- proximately 5 minutes and will then switch off automatically.

Operation:

(Please refer to Figure 1)

1.Place the cordless base (7) on a firm and level surface.

2.Pour the desired amount of clean water into the kettle (4). Do not touch any part of the kettle except the handle while the appliance is in use. Ensure that the lid (1) is properly closed. The amount of water can be measured by the level mark on the outside of the kettle. Always pay at- tention to the minimum and maxi- mum levels and ensure that the lid

(1)is properly and firmly closed.

3.Position the kettle in such a way on the sub base (6) so that the under- side of the kettle fits precisely into the contact on the base. Insert the plug into a wall socket.

4.Put the on/off switch (3) to the ‘1’ position to start the boiling process. The indicator lamp will light up.

5.As soon as the water reaches boiling point, the on/off switch (3) will return automatically to the “0” position. The indicator lamp will go out. The kettle can also be switched off manually by putting the on/off switch to the “0” position.

6.The hot water may now be poured safely through the spout.

7.This kettle is equipped with a safety cut–out feature to protect the appli- ance from damage in case of inap- propriate use. Should the appliance be accidentally switched on without water or if all the water has evaporat- ed, the safety cut out will automati-
