While unit is off press theON/OFF button for 4 Seconds. After 3 seconds at one setting normal mode resumes.

5.To take an ORAL TEMPERATURE reading:
(3 months and older) Place the probe tip under the tongue as near as possible to the area furthest back.
When you hear beeping the measurement is complete and the thermometer will readout both, visibly on the display screen, and audibly (unless disabled).
6.To take an UNDERARM TEMPERATURE reading:
Dry the underarm with a towel and place the probe tip high in the armpit so the thermometer is perpendicular to the body, and position the arm across the chest so the tip is fully covered by bare skin.
When you hear beeping the measurement is complete and the thermometer will readout both, visibly on the display
screen, and audibly (unless disabled).
7.To take a RECTAL TEMPERATURE reading:
(newborn and older) Coat the probe tip with petroleum jelly. With your free hand, spread baby's buttocks apart. Gently insert the probe tip about half an inch to an inch (1.3 to 2.5 centimeters) into the rectum, or until the silver tip disappears.
When you hear beeping the measurement is complete and the thermometer will readout both, visibly on the display screen, and audibly (unless disabled).
8.To LISTEN AGAIN to the temperature readout:
Press the Speaker symbol button ( ) and your thermometer will recall and announce the last measurement taken.
9.To TURN OFF the thermometer:
Press the ON/OFF button for less than 1 Second. The unit will also turn off automatically after five minutesfromthelastuse..
