6.Will the digital valves work with existing showerheads, hand showers and body sprays?

Yes, the ioDIGITAL system works with all Moen fixtures.

7.Will the valve fit within a regular 2" x 4" framed wall?

Yes.

8.Does the valve need to have ventilation?

No. The valve should be mounted in an interior wall to eliminate extreme temperature conditions. It should not be installed in locations that exceed the range of 40°F –104°F.

9.Do I have to plug the valve in, and is an electrician required for the installation?

Yes, the valve needs to be plugged into a 110v AC supply on a GFCI circuit. A certified electrician should install the initial GFCI outlet.

10.Is the valve compatible with PEX, copper and CPVC?

The push-fit connectors supplied with ioDIGITAL valves work well with each of these pipes— seals on the outside diameter.

11.Do you need an access panel for the valve?

• Yes. A minimum of 14-1/2" x 30" access panel is required.

• The valve must be installed with the front facing the access panel.

12. Can the controller be installed outside the shower?

Yes. A 30-foot data cable connects the valve and controller, which gives you the ability to mount the controller at a convenient location within the home.

13.How does the controller mount to the wall?

The controller mounts simply with two screws in a standard 2" x 4" wall. Refer to instruction sheets INS1663 and INS1666.

14.What are the inlet sizes? 3/4".

15.What are the outlet sizes? 1/2".

16.Are water hammer arresters required?

Water hammer arresters are highly recommended, similar to other high- water-flowing home appliances.

17.Are stops required?

Yes, stops upstream of the water hammer arresters to allow for servicing.

Note: Outlets A and B constitute

one valve body. Outlets C and D

constitute another valve body.

High-flow devices (e.g., tub spouts,

multiple body sprays) should be split

up between the A/B and C/D outlet

pairs. For example, if a tub spout is

connected to outlet B, 3 body sprays

should connect to C or D, not A.

ExactTemp® 3/4" Thermostatic Control Moentrol® with Built-In

3-Function Transfer Valve

The ExactTemp Thermostatic Control uses a mechanical system within the valve body to automatically adjust hot and cold water delivery and maintain consistent water temperature. The Moentrol valve lets users turn their spa on and off without changing the temperature position, so they can easily return to their last temperature setting.

Q:If the hot and cold inlets are mistakenly reversed, is the ExactTemp 3/4" cartridge reversible?

A:NO. Hot and cold inlets will have to be

corrected for proper installation.

Q:Does the ExactTemp 3/4" cartridge need to be removed when soldering the valve?

A:NO. Neither the temperature nor flow cartridge needs to be removed. The cartridges will not overheat as a result of normal soldering process.

Q:Can components (body sprays, hand showers, etc.) be installed on a different wall than the transfer valve?

A:YES, but it is important to follow two basic

principles to maximize performance: 1) minimize the distance between components and the

transfer valve; 2) minimize the number of turns in the plumbing lines from the transfer valve to the component.

Q:Do I need to use 3/4" tubing between components?

A:It is recommended that you install 3/4" tubing between thermostatic and flow valves, and 1/2" pipe everywhere else. If 3/4" inlets are

available, that is preferred. However, 1/2" will not diminish performance.
