Aday in the life of the sabrosa ....

Ride Journal entry 32, July 24th:

The alarm went off at 5:30 AM this morning. Made my coffee. Threw on some tunes. Mounted my thermos to the downtube. And rolled. Took the long way downtown. Hit the alley as a cut through to the park. A little single track before 7 AM. Can’t complain. Back out into traffic. Hit that last pothole hard. Weaved between a bus and a cab. Something about cabs makes me think they can’t see bikes. Work was a drag all morning and I couldn’t help but sneak a peek outside to see the weather. Who am I kidding? It doesn’t matter, my Sabrosa can take anything the weather produces. But that sun is calling to me. Snuck out at

lunch for some single track over by the golf course. Ended up taking the long way back when a group of road bikers came by me. I just had to take the sprint. Snuck back in without the boss noticing. But then one of the other bosses needed something urgently. How many bosses do I have? Whatever. I have the lights on the Sabrosa anyway today just in case. Ended up working until 9 PM. Had to make more coffee. But the ride home was sweet. The crisp Summer air reminded me of why I do this everyday. Live to work, no way. Live to ride, everyday. And with all of the options my Sabrosa offers me, there really isn’t another reason.

EC-X, EC-D specifications

The Mongoose EC-D and EC-X electric bicycles are designed to cater to both urban commuters and recreational cyclists, combining performance, style, and advanced technology. These models are part of Mongoose's commitment to providing high-quality, dependable ebikes that enhance the riding experience.

The Mongoose EC-D is a versatile electric bike that focuses on delivering a comfortable ride for daily use. Its frame is constructed from durable aluminum, making it lightweight but sturdy enough to handle various terrains. The bike is equipped with a 250W brushless motor that provides a smooth and reliable boost to help riders conquer inclines and long distances effortlessly. The EC-D features a removable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 36V, offering a range of up to 50 miles on a single charge, depending on terrain and rider input.

One of the standout characteristics of the EC-D is its integrated LCD display, which provides crucial information such as speed, distance traveled, battery level, and assistance mode. Commuters will appreciate the bike's adjustable seat and ergonomic handlebars, ensuring optimum comfort during longer rides. The inclusion of hydraulic disc brakes guarantees responsive and reliable stopping power, even in wet conditions, making this bike a safe choice for urban environments.

On the other hand, the Mongoose EC-X targets more adventurous riders. It builds on the EC-D's foundation but incorporates features suited for off-road cycling. The EC-X is equipped with a more powerful 500W motor, allowing it to tackle steep trails and rough terrains with ease. Featuring a robust suspension system, it absorbs shocks effectively, providing a smooth ride on bumpy paths.

The EC-X also comes with larger, knobby tires designed for enhanced grip and stability. Riders can engage in longer adventures without worrying about battery life, thanks to its larger 48V lithium-ion battery, which enhances the bike’s range to approximately 65 miles. Its dual braking system adds an extra layer of safety, particularly in rugged conditions where quick stops are necessary.

Both the EC-D and EC-X incorporate smart technology such as Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to sync their bikes with mobile applications for tracking performance metrics. Mongoose has ensured that both models cater to a wide variety of riders, with features like customizable pedal assist levels and a user-friendly interface, making them an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore the world of electric biking. Whether commuting or exploring trails, the Mongoose EC-D and EC-X provide reliable and enjoyable riding experiences.
