The story…

CANAAN is the location of the world’s first 24-hour mountain bike team relay race. This wicked course consisted of wet root and mud covered rock descents where riders were heard to pray for the fire-road climbs so they could recover. The event could be summed up as an outlet for hardcore mountain bike enthusiasts to test themselves (and their equipment) and spawned a generation of riders always searching for how far they could go. The 24 Hours of CANAAN capped out at 500 teams of which typically only a few were pro level. In honor of this place that started the ultra distance love affair with dirt, Mongoose® has set out to design the ride that can suit the pro but is also keeping the everyday rider in mind.....

Custom-tuned FreeDrive design with emphasis on good pedaling yet compliant traction. 100mm of travel front and rear (not too much, not too little) keying in on efficiency and control. The engineers at Mongoose can massage the FreeDrive system to suit any conditions, and in the case of the CANAAN, they’ve maximized traction for climbs and enhanced control for flats and downhills.

The geometry of the CANAAN is suited for every- day trail riding as well as race day. 69.5 degree head angle and a low slung center of gravity make

for rock solid handling at high speed and steep de- scents. This handling also makes the bike more stable at the end of an endurance fest when your senses are getting hazy.

Shooting for that harmony between hardcore frame strength yet light-weight construction, the CANAAN resounds with both the weight geek and the back country freak. All pivot locations use a common 5 mm allen wrench and easily sourced bearings from any local bike store. Dual disc specific design…all conditions reliable braking that goes the distance.

EC-X, EC-D specifications

The Mongoose EC-D and EC-X electric bicycles are designed to cater to both urban commuters and recreational cyclists, combining performance, style, and advanced technology. These models are part of Mongoose's commitment to providing high-quality, dependable ebikes that enhance the riding experience.

The Mongoose EC-D is a versatile electric bike that focuses on delivering a comfortable ride for daily use. Its frame is constructed from durable aluminum, making it lightweight but sturdy enough to handle various terrains. The bike is equipped with a 250W brushless motor that provides a smooth and reliable boost to help riders conquer inclines and long distances effortlessly. The EC-D features a removable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 36V, offering a range of up to 50 miles on a single charge, depending on terrain and rider input.

One of the standout characteristics of the EC-D is its integrated LCD display, which provides crucial information such as speed, distance traveled, battery level, and assistance mode. Commuters will appreciate the bike's adjustable seat and ergonomic handlebars, ensuring optimum comfort during longer rides. The inclusion of hydraulic disc brakes guarantees responsive and reliable stopping power, even in wet conditions, making this bike a safe choice for urban environments.

On the other hand, the Mongoose EC-X targets more adventurous riders. It builds on the EC-D's foundation but incorporates features suited for off-road cycling. The EC-X is equipped with a more powerful 500W motor, allowing it to tackle steep trails and rough terrains with ease. Featuring a robust suspension system, it absorbs shocks effectively, providing a smooth ride on bumpy paths.

The EC-X also comes with larger, knobby tires designed for enhanced grip and stability. Riders can engage in longer adventures without worrying about battery life, thanks to its larger 48V lithium-ion battery, which enhances the bike’s range to approximately 65 miles. Its dual braking system adds an extra layer of safety, particularly in rugged conditions where quick stops are necessary.

Both the EC-D and EC-X incorporate smart technology such as Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to sync their bikes with mobile applications for tracking performance metrics. Mongoose has ensured that both models cater to a wide variety of riders, with features like customizable pedal assist levels and a user-friendly interface, making them an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore the world of electric biking. Whether commuting or exploring trails, the Mongoose EC-D and EC-X provide reliable and enjoyable riding experiences.
