CTCSS OPERATION
Many repeater systems require that a
CTCSS setup involves two actions: setting the Tone Mode and then setting of the
Tone Frequency. These actions are set up by using the Set mode #41 (TONE M)
and #40 (TONE F).
1.Press the [SET] key momentarily to enter the Set mode.
2.Rotate the “Main” band DIAL knob to select Menu #41 (TONE M).
3.Press the “Main” band DIAL knob momentarily, then rotate the “Main” band DIAL knob so that “ENC” appears on the display; this activates the CTCSS Encoder, which allows repeater access.
You may notice an additional “DCS” icon appearing while you rotate the
“Main” band DIAL knob in this step. We’ll discuss the Digital Code Squelch system shortly.
4.Rotating the “Main” band DIAL knob one more click clockwise in step “3” above will cause “ENC.DEC” to appear. When “ENC.DEC” appears, this means that the Tone Squelch system is active, which mutes your

7.Rotate the “Main” band DIAL knob until the display indicates the Tone Frequency you need to be using.
8.When you have made your selection, press and hold in the “Main” band DIAL knob for 1/2 second to save the new setting and exit to normal operation.
