20 Section 1B. Phone Basics

Direct Connect — the number that others use to
contact you using Nextel Direct Connect. This
number appears when you receive your alert
notification after enabling security on your phone.
Group ID — the number of the Talkgroup you have
joined.
Carrier IP — the IP address assigned to Nextel. This
number appears when you register for packet
data services.
IP1 Address and IP2 Address — the IP addresses
you use to access the Internet with your phone.
Editing My Info
You can edit My Info to enter or change the text that
appears in My Name.
1. Press
M
> My Info.
2. Press Edit (left softkey).
3. Select Name.
4. Enter the name you want to appear. See “Entering
Text” on page 21. When you are finished, press r.
You can also edit the information in Line 1 and Line 2,
but your changes are only temporary. The next time
your phone registers on the network, your actual phone
numbers appear again in My Info.
Note If you request equipment-related transactions on
your account, Nextel Customer Serv ice may require
you to provide specific information about your
phone. By pressing
M
anytime while in My Info, a
submenu will appear that includes your phone's
service status, unit information, and phone
identification numbers including IMEI, SIM ID, and
Serial Number (SN). Please be prepared to supply
the representative with this information when
requesting these types of transactions.
