Some screens allow you to use the keypad to enter text, such as when you compose a message.

set entry modes

Multiple text entry modes make it easy for you to enter names, numbers, and messages:

entry mode

Primary Enter text using a method that you set. Secondary

Number Enter numbers only (see page 38).

Symbol Enter symbols only (see page 38).

To assign a Primary or Secondary text entry mode:

1In a text entry screen, press s.

2Scroll to Entry Setup and press s.

3Scroll to Primary Setup or Secondary Setup and press s.

4Scroll to one of the following choices and press s:

iTAP™	Let the phone predict each word as you
	press keys.

TAP	Enter letters and numbers by pressing
	a key one or more times.

Tap Extended	Enter letters, numbers, and symbols by
	pressing a key one or more times.
