OPERATION

This section is intended to assist the operator with the initial start-upof the compactor. It is extremely important that this section be read carefully before attempting to use the compactor in the field.

Starting the Engine

1. Open the fuel cock (Figure 11).

2.Move the engine speed control lever (Figure 12) to the IDLE position.

4.Grasp the starter grip (Figure 14) and slowly pull it out.The resistance becomes the hardest at a certain position, corre- spondingtothecompressionpoint.Pullthestartergripbriskly and smoothly for starting.

5. If the engine does not start, repeat steps 1 thru 4.

Operation

1.Once the engine has started, move the engine speed lever quickly to the FAST (Figure 15) position.

2.With the engine speed control lever placed in the FAST position, the engine speed should be between 2,300 ~2,600 RPM’s, therefore engaging the centrifugal clutch.
