REMOTE POWER-ON FEATURE (WAKE ON LAN)
NEC Express5800/120Rd-1’s system board supports Wake-on-LAN. The remote power-on function turns
on the server through a networ k. It sends a special p acket from the management computer t o a remote server
to turn it on if the server is off-powered.
NEC ESMPRO Software and Integrated Remote Management Capabilities
NEC Express5800/120Rd-1 includes NEC ESMPRO Server Management
Software that allows network administ rators to monitor, contr ol and manage
NEC Express5800 servers and desktops across a network from a management
console or any PC with an I nt ernet browser.
NEC ESMPRO enables:
• Local or remote management (via your network or the Web)
• Comprehensive real-time fault ma na gement
• Performance and load monitor ing
• Broad configuration a nd asset management
It allows system adminis trator s to optimise s erver opera tions through a n easy-to-u se Windows-
based graphical us er interface.
NEC ESMPRO c omes with SNM P a gents for Micr osoft Windows envir onments ac commodating
all NEC Express5800 servers.
“Plug-in” applications are also available to comprehensively integrate NEC Express5800 systems
with leading enterprise and network ma nagers such a s HP OpenView NNM for Wi ndows, T ivoli
Enterprise, or CA Unicenter.
To lower the Total Cost of Ownership even more, NEC Express5800/120Rd-1 features hardware
integrated remote management capa bilities implemented through the Baseboard Management
Controller (BMC) and R omPilot (extended BIOS). This built-in solution provides r emote
emergency access and control of s erver res our ces (via LAN or st anda r d modem connection) fr om
a Management Workstat ion Applicat ion (MWA) allowing cr itical a ctions suc h as remote power
control, remote Event L og access or r emote console redirection, r egardless of the sta te of the
operating system or the network. In the pas t, this capabilit y was available only through a n
expensive emergency management ISA/PCI a dd-in card.

NEC Express5800/120Rd-1 systems come with NEC EXPRESSBUILDER set-up and
configuration softwa re that provides a logical and comprehensive p rocess for your server
installation.
