6-18 Troubleshooting

Entire disk area is used as the OS area though “Use Existing Partition” has been selected for “System Partition.”

†Was there any partition other than the partition to be reused (except the maintenance area)?

οIf there was no area other than the partition to be reused, the entire area is reserved for Windows installation.

The settings for joining a domain was made, but the server was installed as a member of a workgroup.

οWorkgroup settings are made in the installation. Join a domain after the OS is started.

†Did you use any double-byte characters in the host name?

οIf you use any double-byte character in a host name on Windows Server 2003, joining a domain will fail. If you have failed joining a domain, select [System] from Control Panel to make settings to join a domain.

Though a large value was specified for the partition size, it turned out when Windows started that the system partition created was 4095MB.

†Did you specify a value larger than the actual size of the area in the [Partition Size]?

οIf you want one partition for the entire area (except the maintenance area), select [All Area].

The cluster size is set to 512 bytes in the installation though installation was done on a partition whose size is 2GB or greater by NTFS.

οThis is the specification of the Express Setup. If you want to perform installation with a cluster size other than 512 bytes, perform the manual setup.

Windows started up with a different resolution than the resolution specified for display.

οIf the resolution you configured cannot be used, a resolution close to the one you specified or the default resolution will be used.

A wrong product key has been entered.

οAutomatic installation begins even if you enter a wrong product key. However, the process stops during the automatic installation and you are asked to enter a product key. In this case, you are asked for entry at the reboot after the GUI setup in the automatic installation. If you successfully complete these two entries, entry of a wrong product key does not affect Windows setup.

Detailed network adapter settings are not available.

οYou cannot make detailed network adapter settings in the Express Setup. Make the settings from Control Panel after starting up Windows.
