ASpikeKitis includedwiththe [,'lodeJVT-3to provideoptimumstabilityandto fifmlycouplethe speakefsto theflooffor improvedbassperflrmance(asifthe'130+lbsofwood,speakersande,ectronicswasn'tenoughl).EachVT-3loudspeaker is shippedwith its own SpikeKit. Cautioni the VT,3 is unstabte without the SpikeKit (or at teast the

stabilizerbars)installed.

Tobeginassembly,unpackihe SpikeKitandinspectalltfle parts.TheSpikeKitincludes:(2)aluminumstabilizerbas,(4) aluminlmcones,(4)stainlesssteelallenstuds,(1)allenheadwrench,(8) Phillipsheadmachinescrewsand (4)rubbei teet. lmportanti We recommendinstalling only the stabilizer bars until final placementof the speakeF is delermined.This makesthe speakersmucheasierto move, Carefullytumthespeakersupsidedown,andattachthe

stabilizerbarswilhthePhillipsheadmachinescrews,usinga#3 Phillipsscrewdriver(seefig 1). jnstalling

When thebars ontothebottomofthespeaker,useyourfingersto startallthemachinescrewsintheirholesbeforetighteningthemdown. Thiswillpreventcross-threading.

Onceyouhavefoundthe ideallocationfor yourspeakers,youare rcadyto installthe metalcones. Havesomeonehelp you:Whileonepersontiltsandholdsthespeakerto oneside,carefullyinstalltheconesflushagainstthestabilizerbars, usingthesuppliedallenstuds.Thespeakersareawkwardto moveaftertheconesare nstalled.Caution:Theconesarc verysharp.Toavoidinjuryuseextfemecarewhenhandlingandinstallingthem.

I Placement

TheVT-3 is a floorstandingtowefspeakerthatrequiresnostandsor mountinghardwareotherthantheincludedSpikeKit. TheVT-3is designedfor indooruseonly.As theVT-3is a magnelicallyshieldedloudspeaker,placementnextto a televi- sionwillnol distortor discolorthepicturc.

Torealizethemaximumperformanceof theVT-3,youshouldinvestsometimeforfine-tuningadjustmentsFollow.steps #1-6,referringthediagramin fig.2. Priorto beginningthisprocess,we suggestyouselecttwoor threeof yourfavorite recordingsto use while you optimizethe speakerplacement. Each time you move the speakersto a new position,take note of the changesyo(Jare hearing. This will help you to find the uttimateptacementfor your VT-3s.Be sureto havea tapemeasureandlevelhandy.

Unlikemanyspeakers,the VT-3sare designedto be placedcloseto the fiontwall. Thisplacementallowsoptimum loadingofthe lowfrequencydrivers.lt alsoloadstheambientorreaFfiringddversforoptimirmeffect.1O',-12"ipacing willproduceexcellentresultsin mostsituations,butyoucanplacethevr-3s as closeas 6" or as far as 24"fromth; wallto accommodateyourroom'sacousticsionature.

Forthesmoothestresponse,the distancetromthesidewallsshouldbe differenttbanthe distancef.omthefrontwall.
