VR Optical Image Stabilization

VR Optical Image Stabilization compensates for camera shake to prevent blur and produce clearer, sharper results in lower lighting or unsteady conditions. The benefits of full-time VR also extend to faster framing on the monitor and smoother action in movies.

System expandability

Optional Wide-angle (24mm) and Telephoto (369mm) Converter lenses further extend focal and creative range, as does a built-in accessory shoe that supports Nikon’s advanced i-TTL flash control for external flashes, including the Speedlight SB-400, SB-600 and SB-800.

Advanced Shooting Modes

The new improved Mode dial provides quick access to greater personal control over camera operation and the unlimited creative possibilities offered by Programmed Auto [P] ,Shutter-priority Auto [S], Aperture-priority Auto [A], and Manual [M] exposure modes.

ISO 3200 capability

Better picture in lower light

Extended light sensitivity range of ISO 64 to ISO 3200* and the new image-processing engine’s ability to preserve high image quality at high ISO settings provide new opportunities to shoot more with faster shutter speeds effectively in lower lighting conditions.

*ISO 3200 is available only for image sizes of 5M (2592 x 1944) or smaller.

12.1 Megapixels of Pure Imaging Power

That’s plenty of sharp resolution to capture the finest details, crop creatively and produce beautiful enlargements. Optimizing performance and color reproduction is an advanced new image processing engine.

Plus, the quality optics of a 35-123mm Zoom-Nikkor lens (equivalent

with 35mm format picture angle) maximizes compositional freedom.
