Radiant Ceiling Heater
(single-bulb heat lamp)
MODEL: H-910W
LOCATION
Heater is to be located in ceiling of bathroom, mounted to junction box installed on a ceiling joist, or if necessary on a header between joists.
CAUTION: Do not mount heater closer than 8" to a vertical surface. Do not mount heater over tub or in shower stall enclosure.
MOUNTING JUNCTION BOX
(refer to specific section below)When Ceiling Is In Place (see Figure 1)1.Check attic or crawl space for wiring or other possible obstruction to junction box. Return to bathroom and drill a pilot hole through ceiling at the proposed location.
2.Locate the pilot hole in attic. Position a standard 4" octagon junction box over pilot hole and next to ceiling joist. If ceiling joist is not adjacent to pilot hole, install a header between joists for mounting the junction box.
3.Mark ceiling for cutout, using the junction box as a template. Make cutout in ceiling along outline of junction box.
4.Run wiring to junction box (see WIRING section), then mount box to joist or header, keeping edge of box flush to ceiling.
When Mounting To Open Joist (see Figure 1)Mount standard 4" octagon junction box to ceiling joist, or to header.
WIRING
1.Heater may be wired to an existing lighting circuit, or run a 120vAC, 60Hz, 15 Amp circuit through a wall switch to ceiling junction box (switch not included, see
ACCESSORIES).
2.Remove wiring knockout from junction box and install a box connector. Feed wires through box connector, leaving about 6" of wire in box for connections.
CAUTION: Be sure heater is properly grounded and all wiring complies with local electrical code.
