ªWhite Balance

You cannot change White Balance if you set [EFFECT] of [DIGITAL EFFECT] Sub-Menu on the [CAMERA FUNCTIONS] Main-Menu to [GAIN UP] and Colour Night View Function.

You cannot use the Manual White Balance Adjustment when the zoom magnification is approximately 10k or higher.

In the following cases, the [1] Indication flashes:

The flashing indicates that the previously adjusted White Balance setting is still kept. This setting will be kept until White Balance is adjusted again.

You may not be able to achieve correct White Balance Adjustment manually under weak illumination.

ªManual Shutter Speed Adjustment

You may see vertical lines of light in the playback image of a brightly shining subject or highly reflective subject.

During normal playback, movement in the images may not look smooth.

Because the colour and brightness of the playback image may become unstable, avoid recording under fluorescent light, mercury light, or sodium light.

If you are using Gain-up Mode (l28), Colour Night View Functon (l23) or Programme AE Mode (l24), you cannot adjust the shutter speed. If the shutter speed was adjusted

manually, this setting will be cancelled. When [PROGRESSIVE] is set to [ON], the

shutter speed cannot be adjusted to 1/750 s or faster.

ªManual Iris Adjustment

If you are using Programme AE Mode (l24), you cannot adjust the iris. If the iris is adjusted manually, this setting will be cancelled.

If you attempt to adjust the Shutter Speed after setting the Iris, the value set for the Iris will be cancelled.

ªDigital Effect Functions

When you set the following functions, [EFFECT] will be set to [OFF].

Progressive Photoshot Function [PROGRESSIVE] (l20)

Digital Zoom [D.ZOOM] (l21)

Image Stabilizer Function [SIS] (l22)

It is as follows when [GAIN UP] is selected.

The shutter speed cannot be operated. White Balance cannot be changed.

The Sports Mode [5], the Portrait Mode [7] and Low Light Mode [4] are cancelled.

Record with Photo Title Function.

Picture-in-Picture Mode

If the Movie Camera is turned off, the smaller picture disappears.

The position of a small picture is fixed at the bottom right of the screen.

ªPlaying Back

Repeat Playback

If you continue to press the [1] Button for

5 seconds or longer, the Movie Camera switches to Repeat Playback Mode, and the [R !] Indication appears. (To cancel Repeat Playback Mode, set the [VCR/OFF/CAMERA/M-CARD] Switch to [OFF].)

Listening to Playback Sound through Headphones

When you wish to listen to playback sound through headphones, connect the headphones to the [PHONES] Socket (l7) on the Movie Camera. In this case, no sound (including a warning sound and shutter sound) will be reproduced through the built-in speaker of the Movie Camera.

Multi-Picture Mode

The quality of Multi images deteriorates slightly. Playback Multi-Mode screens cannot be output through the DV Terminal (l37) or Digital Still

Picture Terminal (l7).

If there is input from DV Terminal, a multi screen cannot be created.

ªIndex Search Functions

Index Search may not be possible at the beginning of tape.

Because Photoshot Index Signals are not recorded on still pictures recorded in Continuous Photoshot Mode, the Photoshot Index Search Function cannot be used for these still pictures.

Scene Index Search may not function properly if the interval between 2 scene index signals is shorter than 1 minute.

ªPlayback Digital Effect Functions

When [EFFECT1] on the [DIGITAL EFFECT] Sub-Menu is set to [TRAIL], the digital modes of [EFFECT2] cannot be used.

NV-DS65EG, NV-DS60EG specifications

The Panasonic NV-DS60EG and NV-DS65EG are part of Panasonic's esteemed line of MiniDV camcorders, integrating advanced technology and user-friendly features into compact designs. These camcorders were launched in the early 2000s, appealing to both amateur videographers and those with a more serious interest in video production.

The NV-DS60EG and NV-DS65EG share many core features, including a powerful 1-chip CCD sensor that delivers vivid image quality. The CCD sensor allows for excellent low-light performance, capturing clear and bright footage in various lighting conditions. Both models support MiniDV tape format, which provides superior video quality compared to analog systems.

One standout feature of these camcorders is their 10x optical zoom lens, which enables users to capture distant subjects without losing clarity. This functionality is essential for creating dynamic shots, especially in outdoor environments or events where distance plays a role. The digital zoom capabilities further enhance this versatility, allowing for up to 700x digital zoom, although it's essential to note that while digital zoom extends the range, it can reduce image sharpness.

Another significant characteristic of the NV-DS60EG and NV-DS65EG is the built-in Optical Stabilizer (OIS), which helps to reduce camera shake during handheld shooting. This technology is particularly useful for capturing smooth footage in action or while moving. The ergonomic design of these camcorders, paired with intuitive controls, makes them comfortable to hold for extended periods, catering to both seasoned users and novices.

The LCD screen is another noteworthy feature, providing a clear view for framing shots and adjusting settings. This variable-angle display is essential for creative shooting angles, giving users the flexibility to capture unique perspectives. Additionally, the camcorders offer various shooting modes, enhancing the creative options available, including night mode, which optimizes settings for low-light environments.

In terms of connectivity, both models include options for video output, making it easy to transfer footage to a computer or connect to a television for playback. The Panasonic NV-DS60EG and NV-DS65EG are equipped with digital video (DV) in/out capabilities, enabling seamless transfer of video to and from digital editing systems.

Overall, the Panasonic NV-DS60EG and NV-DS65EG represent a strong entry into the world of digital video with reliable performance and a range of features suitable for recording life’s moments with impressive quality and clarity. Their combination of optical zoom, image stabilization, and user-friendly design have secured these camcorders a lasting legacy within the realm of home video recording.
