CONNECTING A KBD4000 SERIES KEYBOARD (OPTIONAL)

SINGLE KEYBOARD
This installation is for a single keyboard plugged into a Genex multiplexer. Refer to Figure 2
in the
Applications
section for an overview of a typical application.
1. Remove the DIP switch cover plate on the back of the keyboard. Set the DIP switches
(refer to the keyboard manual). Replace the plate.
2. Plug the supplied 25-foot (7.6 m) cable into the back of the KBD4000/KBD4002
keyboard and into COM IN on the back of the multiplexer. Refer to Figure 12. To
connect a KBD4000V keyboard to the multiplexer, refer to the KBD4000V manual.
3. If you are going to daisy chain multiplexers (16 maximum), use the 6-foot (1.8 m) data
cables supplied with the multiplexers (refer to Figure 14). Connect a cable from the
first multiplexer’s COM OUT port to the second multiplexer’s COM IN port, then
connect the second multiplexer’s COM OUT port to the third multiplexer’s COM IN
port. Continue to unit 16 if necessary.
