No picture on the monitor.

SYMPTOM REMEDY
Are the monitor and camera connected properly?
Is the video cable connected properly? Is the cable defective? Check the connection and for a
snapped wire in the cable.
Is the camera focused? Refer to your camera’s user manual and focus the camera correctly.
FUNCTION/OPERATION PROBLEMS
Is the lock or lock all indicator lit? Press the LOCK button several times to unlock the VCR.
Is a cassette inserted?
Make sure the VCR has AC power supplied continuously for at least 40 hours per week.

Contents stored in memory may be erased before the 31 days depending on the charge time of
the power failure compensation circuit. Set the present time again.
Is the lock all indicator lit? Press the LOCK button once to unlock the VCR.
RECORDING PROBLEMS
Is the lock all indicator lit? Press the LOCK button once to unlock the VCR.
Is the cassette’s erasure prevention tab broken off? Load a cassette with an erasure prevention tab.
Has the tape run out? Rewind or load a new cassette.
Is the lock or lock all indicator lit? Press the LOCK button several times to unlock the VCR.
Is the timer recording indicator lit? Press the TIMER REC button on the front panel to cancel
timer recording.
Is the repeat indicator lit? Set TAPE END in the First Time Set Up menu to REPEAT or
ALARM•PROT.
If TAPE END is set ALARM•PROT (alarm protection), repeat recording will not work if there is an
alarm recording on the tape.
When a tape reaches its end during alarm recording, the VCR rewinds the tape and stops
(recording does not start again) even though TAPE END is set to REPEAT.
Are the day and time set correctly? Set them again if not.
Are the recording start and end times and the recording mode set correctly? Confirm the settings
in PROGRAM TO RECORD.
Is the timer recording indicator lit? If not, press the TIMER REC button on the front panel.
Is the external switch connected correctly? Check the connection.
Is the emergency recording indicator lit? Set EMERGENCY REC in the Recording Set Up menu ON.
PLAYBACK PROBLEMS
Is the lock or lock all indicator lit? Press the LOCK button several times to unlock the VCR.
Is a cassette inserted?
Has the tape run out?
Adjust tracking by pressing the TRACKING buttons on the front panel.
Adjust playback speed by pressing the REC/PLAY MODE buttons on the front panel.
Adjust the picture by pressing the VERTICAL ADJUST buttons on the front panel.
The video heads may be clogged with oxide deposits. Clean them using a video head cleaning
cassette available in most local retail stores. Consult your dealer if this fails to solve the problem.
Camera pictures are clear
during recording but unclear
during playback.
