There are three types of Super Audio CDs: single-layer, dual-layer, and hybrid. Each may contain two areas of recorded audio or sound modes: High Quality Stereo and High Quality Multi-channel.

A single-layer SACD may contain both Stereo and Multi-channel. A dual layer SACD may contain both Stereo and Multi-channel, but twice the amount.

Hybrid SACDs have two layers, the CD and SACD layers.Within the SACD layer are the SACD Stereo area and the SACD Multi-channel area. If you have a hybrid SACD, you need to choose the layer/sound mode you want to play - CD, SACD Stereo, or SACD Multi-channel. Follow these steps to choose a Sound Mode.
