AIR FILTER

CAUTION:Donot clean filter in gasoline
orother flammable s olvent to avoid creating
af ire hazard or producing harmful evapora-
tive emissions.

Cleaning the air filter:

A dirty air filter decreases engine perform-
ance and increases fuel consumption and
harmful emissions. Always clean after 15
tanks of fuel or 5 hours of operation, which-
ever comes first. Clean more frequently in
dustyc onditions. A used aire filter can never
bec ompletely cleaned. It is advisable to re-
placeyour air filterwith a new one after every
50hours of operation, or annually, whichever
comesfirst.
1. Loosen3 screws on c ylinder cover.
2. Removecylinder cov er.
3. Removeair filter.
4. Cleanthe air filter using hot soapy water.
Rinsewith c lean cool water. Airdry com-
pletely before reinstalling.
5. Reinstallair filter.
6. Reinstall cylinder cover and 3 screws.
TIghten securely.

INSPECT MUFFLER AND SPARK

ARRESTING SCREEN

Asthe unit isused, c arbon deposits build up
on the muffler and spark arresting screen,
andmust be removed to avoid cr eating afire
hazard or affecting engine performance.
Replacethe spark arrestingscreen ifbreaks
occur.

Clean every 25 hours ofoper ationor annually,
whichever comes first.

1. Loosenand remove the 3 cylinder c over
screws. Remove the cylinder cov er.
2. Pulloff the spark plug boot.
3. Loosenand remove the locknut from the
bolt cover. Remove the bolt cover.
4. Loosenand remove the 2 muffler bolts.
Removethe muffler and bac kplates. No-
tice the orientation of these parts for re-
assembling.
5. Locatethe 2 outlet cov er screws on the
muffler. Loosen and remove both
screws. Remove the outletcover and
spark arresting screen.
