SKeep the handles dry and clean and
freefrom oil and grease.
SKeep oil cap and fasteners securely
tightened.
SNonconforming replacement compo-
nents or the removal of safety devices
maycause damage to the unit and pos-
sible injury to the operator or bystand-
ers. Use only Poulan accessories and
replacement parts as recommended.
Never modifyyour saw.
SMaintainchain saw with care.
SKeep unit sharp and clean forbetter
and safer performance.
SFollow instructionsfor lubricating and
changing accessories.
SUnplug thechain saw from the power
sourcewhen not in use, before servic-
ing, and when changing accessories
and attachments, such as saw chain
and guard.
SCheck for damaged parts. Before fur-
ther use of the chain saw, a guard or
other part that is damaged should be
carefully checked to determin e that it will
operate properly and perform its in-
tended function. Check for alignment of
moving parts, binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts, mountingand any
other conditions that may affectits op-
eration. A guard or other part that is
damaged should be properly repaired
or replaced by an authorized service
dealer unless otherwise indicatedelse-
where in the instructionmanual.
SWhen not in use, chain saws should
be stored in a dry,high or locked-up
place out of the reach of children.
SWhen storing saw, unplug and use a
bar sheath or carryingcase.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING: Avoid a dangerous
environment. Toreduce the risk of elec-
tricalshock, do notuse in rain, in damp
or wet locations, or around swimming
pools, hot tubs, etc. Do not expose to
snow, rain,or water to avoid the possibil-
ityof electrical shock. Do not handle ex-
tensionc ordor plug with wet hands.
SUsea voltage supply as shown on the
nameplateof the unit.
SAvoid dangerous situations. Do not
use in the presence offlammable liq-
uidsor gases to avoid creating a fire or
explosion and/or causing damage to
unit.
STo reduce the riskof electrical shock,
thisappliance has a polarized plug (one
bladeis wider than the other) and will re-
quire the use of a polarized extension
cord.T he appliance plug will fit into a po -
larized extension cord only one way.If
the plug does notfit fully into the exten-
sion cord, reverse theplug. If the plug
still does not fit, obtain a correct polar-
ized extension cord.A po larizedexten-
sioncord will require the use of a polar-
ized wall outlet. This plug will fit into the
polarized wall outlet only one way. If
plugdo es not fit fully into the wall outlet,
reversethe plug. If the plug still doesno t
fit,con tact a qualified electricia n to install
theproper wall outlet. Do not change the
equipment plug, extension cord recep-
tacle,or extension cord plug in any way.
STo reduce risk of electrical shock, use
extension cords specifically marked as
suitable for outdoor appliances. The
electrical ratingof the cord must not be
less than the rating of unit. T he cord
must be marked with suffix “W--A” (in
Canada, “W”). Use a polarized cord.
Make sure your extension cord is in
good condition.Inspect extension cord
before use and replace ifdamaged. Do
not use a damaged cord. Cord insula-
tionmust be intact with no cracks or de-
terioration. Plug con nectors must be
undamaged. An undersized extension
cordwill cause a drop in line voltage re-
sultingin loss ofpower and overheating.
Ifin doubt, use the next heavier gauge.
Thelower the gauge number, the heavi-
erthe cord (see SELECT AN EXTENSION
CORD in the OPERATION section). Do
not use multiple cords.
SDo not abuse cord. Never carry the
unitby the extension cord or yank ex-
tension cordto disconnect unit.
SSecure extension cord to powercord
to preventdisconnection from unit.
SDo not use the unitif the switch does
notturn the unit on and off properly, or
ifthe lockout does not work. Repairs to
theswitch must be made by an autho-
rized servicedealer.
SKeepextension cord clear of operator
and obstacles at all times. Position
cord so that it will not be caught on
branches. Do not expose cords to
heat,oil, water, or sharp edges.
STo avoid the possibility of ele ctric
shock, avoid body contact with any
grounded conductor, such as metal
fences or pipes.
SGround Fault Circuit Interrupter(GFCI)
protectionshould be p rovidedon circuit
or outlet to be used. Receptacles are
available having built-in GFCI protec tion
and may be used for this measure of
safety.Inspect chain saw cords pe riodi-
cally and if damaged, have repaired by
an authorized service dealer.
