6. Bend the line at the midpoint and insert
the bend into the slot in the center rim of
thespool. E nsure line snaps into position
in the slot.

7. With your finger between the lines, wrap
the lines evenly and firmly around the
spool in a clockwise direction.

9. Insert the ends of the lines through ex it
holes in the sides of the cover.
10. Place the spool in the cov er.

11. Make sure the lines are not c aught be-
tweenthe r imof t hes pool andthe wall of
the cover.
12. Reinstall the spool and cover ont o the
trimmerhead. Push until c over snaps into
place.

REPLACING THE CUTTING HEAD

1. Align hole in the dust cup with the hole in
the side of the gearbox by rotating the
dust cup.
2. Insert a small scr ewdriver into aligned
holes. This will keep the shaft from turning
whileremov ing and installing trimmer head.

3. Whileholding the screwdr iver in position,
remove trimmer head by turning clock-
wise.
4. Thread replacement trimmer head onto
the shaft by turning counterclockwise.
Tightenuntil s ecure.
5. Remove the screwdriver.

CARBURETORADJUSTMENT

WARNING : Keep others away when
making idle speed adjustments. The trimmer
head, blade or any optional attachment will be
spinning during most of this procedure. Wear
yourpr otective equipment and observe all saf e-
ty precautions. After making adjustments, the
trimmer head, blade or any optional attachment
must not move/spin at idle speed.
The carburetor has been carefully set at the
factory.Adjustments may be necessary if you
notice any of the following conditions:
SEngine will not idle when the throttle is
released.
SThe trimmer head, blade or optional
attachment moves/spins at idle.
Makeadjus tments with the unit supported so
the cutting attachment is off the ground and
will not make contact with any object. Hold
theunit by hand while running and making ad-
justments. Keep all parts of your body away
from the cutting attachment and muffler.

Idle Speed Adjustment

Allowengine to idle. Adjust s peed untilengine
runs without trimmer head, blade or optional
attachment moving or spinning (idle too fast)
or stalling (idle speed too slow).
STurn idle speed screw clockwise to
increase engine speed if engine stalls or
dies.
STurnidle s peed screw countercloc kwise to
decrease engine speed if trimmer head,
blade or optional attachment moves or
spins at idle.
WARNING : Recheck the idle speed
after each adjustment. The trimmer head,
blade or optional attachment must not move
orspin at idle s peed to avoid serious injury to
the operator or others.
