See “TO ADJUST SKID PLATES” and “SCRAPER BAR” in the Operation section of this manual.

CHUTE DEFLECTOR

The chute defl ector, attached to the top of the discharge chute, is provided to direct discharging snow away from the operator. If the defl ector becomes damaged, it should be replaced.

WARNING: To avoid serious injury, never operate your snow thrower with the deflector removed or damaged.

To change direction and/or distance snow is discharged, see “TO CONTROL SNOW DISCHARGE” in the Op- eration section of this manual.

SHEAR BOLTS (See Fig. 19)

AUGER SHEAR BOLTS

Both right and left-hand augers are secured to the auger shaft with a shoulder/shear bolt and hex nut. Should a for- eign object or ice become lodged in the augers, the shear bolts are designed to break, preventing damage to any other components. If one or both augers do not turn when auger control lever is engaged, check to see if one or both of the bolts have sheared. To replace the shear bolts:

1.Disengage all controls and move throttle control to STOP position. Wait for all moving parts to stop.

2.Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot come in contact with plug.

3.Align hole in auger hub with hole in auger shaft and install a new 1/4-20 x 2" shoulder/shear bolt. Install 1/4-20 lock nut and tighten securely.

CAUTION: Do not substitute. Use only original equipment shear bolts as supplied with your snow thrower.

4.Connect spark plug wire to spark plug.

IMPELLER SHEAR BOLTS

The impeller is secured to the impeller shaft with two (2)

capscrew/shear bolts and hex nuts. Should a foreign object

or ice become lodged in the impeller, the capscrews are

designed to break, preventing damage to any other com-

ponents. If impeller does not turn when auger control lever

is engaged, check to see if the capscrews have sheared.

The Poulan PR524ESA is a powerful and efficient snow thrower designed to tackle winter's toughest challenges. Known for its reliability and performance, this machine is ideal for homeowners who need to clear snow from driveways, sidewalks, and patios during heavy snowfalls. With an array of features and advanced technologies, the PR524ESA stands out in the competitive landscape of snow removal equipment.

One of the key features of the Poulan PR524ESA is its 208cc engine, which provides ample power to handle a variety of snow conditions, including heavy, wet, and packed snow. This four-cycle engine is designed for easy starting and requires no mixing of oil and fuel, simplifying maintenance for the user. The snow thrower is equipped with a 24-inch clearing width, allowing it to quickly and efficiently clear large areas of snow in fewer passes.

The PR524ESA features an adjustable augmented discharge chute, which allows users to direct the snow exactly where they want it to go. This is particularly useful in preventing snow from being thrown back onto already cleared pathways. The chute rotation is also adjustable from the operator's position, enhancing convenience and efficiency while working in harsh winter conditions.

Another notable characteristic of the Poulan PR524ESA is its 6-speed transmission, which includes 5 forward and 1 reverse speed. This gives operators greater control and flexibility when maneuvering the machine through varying snow depths and terrain types. Enhanced traction is further supported by the machine's large, rugged tires, which are designed to provide stability and grip on slippery surfaces.

The snow thrower is also equipped with integrated LED lights, ensuring that users can work effectively even in low-light conditions. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who need to clear snow early in the morning or late at night.

For added user comfort, the PR524ESA is designed with an ergonomically friendly handle that can be adjusted to different height settings. This allows users of varying statures to operate the snow thrower comfortably. Furthermore, the machine's compact design makes it relatively lightweight and easy to maneuver, enhancing its usability for users of all skill levels.

In summary, the Poulan PR524ESA is a versatile and user-friendly snow thrower that combines power, efficiency, and innovative features.
