SAllowengine to cool before storing or trans-

SEmptythe fuel tank before storing or trans-
portingthe unit. Use up fuel left in thecarbu-
retorby starting the engi neand letting it run
until it stops.

furnaces, etc.

operateina locale wher esuch regulations ex-
ist,you are legally responsi ble formai ntaining
theoperating condition of these parts. Fail ure
todo so is aviolation of the law. For normal
homeowneruse, themuffler andspark arrest-
ingscreen will not require any servi ce. After
50 hours of use, we recommend that your
mufflerbe ser viced or replaced by an autho-
rized service dealer.
ASSEMBLY
WARNING: If received assembled,
repeatall steps to ensure your unit is properly
assembled and all fasteners are secure.
Examine parts for damage. Do not use dam-
agedparts.

It is normal for the fuel filter to rattle in the
empty fuel tank.
Findingfuel or oil residue on muffler i s normal
due to carburetor adjustments and testing
doneby the manufactur er.

ADJUSTINGTHE HANDLE

WARNING: Whenadjustingtheassist
handle, be sure it rem ains above t he safety l abel
and below the mark or arrow on the shaft.
1. Loosen wing nut on handle.
2. Rotatethe handle on the shaft to an upright
position; retighten wing nut.

ATTACHINGSHIELD

WARNING: Theshi eld must be prop-
erly installed. The shield provides partial protec-
tion to the operator and others from the risk of
thrownobjects,and is equippedwith a linelimit-
er blade which cuts excess line to the proper
length. The line limiter blade (on underside of
shield) is sharp and can cut you.

section.
1. Remove wing nut from shield.
2. Insertbracket i nto slot as shown.
3. Pivotshield until bolt passes through hole
in bracket.
4. Securely tighten wing nut onto bolt.
