USING THE RADIO

To talk, hold down PTT (push to talk) and speak into the microphone.

TX appears on the dis- play. When you finish speaking, release PTT.

To hear everything happening on a channel, including weak transmissions and radios set to a different quiet code, hold down M (monitor). BUSY appears on the display. Release M to turn auto-squelch back on.

To select a channel

To turn the radio on and off, hold this down for about 1 second.

You can lock most of the radio’s keys so they don’t work until you unlock them, to avoid acciden- tally changing the radio’s settings. To lock and unlock the front panel keys (except ON/OFF, VOLUME / , and

), press . LOCK appears on the display when the keys are locked.

Microphone

You can cause a paging tone to sound on all radios tuned to the same channel (and quiet code, if used). To send a page, hold down CALL (for up to 10 sec- onds). TX flashes on the display.

Used as a 2-way radio, you hear full volume

Important: Do not hold the radio’s speaker against your ear with this key cover closed. The radio is automati- cally set to a high volume when the key cover is closed.
