–before filling or emptying the water tank;

ENever unplug the appliance by tugging on the cord.
EOnly safe extension leads should be used.
EDo not immerse the appliance in water.
EAn electrical appliance should not be used if:
–the appliance, the supply cord or the cord protector is damaged;
–the appliance has been dropped;
–the appliance is obviously leaking. In this case the appliance should be returned to an approved Rowenta Service Dealer for repair. (See enclosed list for addresses.)
ERepairs to electrical appliances may only be carried out by specialists. Improperly carried out repairs can cause serious danger to users. To avoid danger to users, a defective or damaged supply cord may only be replaced by an authorised Rowenta service centre.

If the iron is switched on and not moved for a period of 8 minutes while standing on its heel or 30 seconds while standing on the soleplate or Iying on its side,

■When using the iron for the first time, plug it into the mains electricity supply, set the temperature control to max., do not add any water, stand the iron on its heel and allow it to heat up in the vertical position for 2 minutes. A small amount of smoke may be generated. This is perfectly normal and will disap- pear after a short period of use.
STEAM IRONING

■Unplug the iron.
■Push the steam control slide fully to the left to shut off the steam valve (Position “min“).
■Open the water filling inlet cover.
■Hold the appliance upright so that the water inlet is horizontal.
Fill with water (containing no additives) to the max. water level mark and close the lid.
