13Scale particles suspended in the water may give it a cloudy or greasy appearance. The filter will prevent these particles going into your drink. If you see deposits on the filter, clean it, otherwise the performance of your kettle will drop, your drinks may contain scale, and the water inside the kettle may look cloudy.

14Check your hands are free from soap, hand cream, or anything that might leave a taint.
15Switch the kettle off, and let it cool.
16Open the lid.
17Grip the top of the filter, and pull it gently up and out of the kettle.
18Rinse the filter under a running tap while brushing with a soft brush.
19Rinse the kettle, in case scale particles have fallen inside.
20 Slide the filter into the guides on either side of the spout.
21 Close the lid.
caution don’t use the kettle without the filter in place – it may spit boiling water
