Network Connection

You can set up your TV so that it can access the Internet through your local area network (LAN) using a wired or wireless
connection.
Connecting to a Wired network ¦
You can attach your TV to your LAN using cable in three ways:
You can attach your TV to your LAN by connecting the LAN port on the back of your TV to an external modem using a Cat y
5 cable. See the diagram below.
You can attach your TV to your LAN by connecting the LAN port on the back of your TV to a IP Sharer which is connected y
to an external modem. Use Cat 5 cable for the connection. See the diagram below.
Depending on how your network is configured, you may be able to attach your TV to your LAN by connecting the LAN y
port on the back of your TV directly to a network wall outlet using a Cat 5 cable. See the diagram below. Note that the wall
outlet is attached to a modem or router elsewhere in your house.
If you have a Dynamic Network, you shoul d use an ADSL modem or router that sup ports Dynamic Host Conf iguration
Protocol (DHCP). Modems and routers that supp ort DHCP automatically prov ide the IP address, subnet mask, g ateway,
and DNS values your TV needs to acc ess the Internet so you do not have to enter them m anually. Most home networks
are Dynamic Networks.
Some networks require a Static IP addre ss. If your network requires a St atic IP address, you must enter the IP addr ess,
subnet mask, gateway, and DNS values manuall y on your TV’s Cable Setup Screen wh en you set up the network
connection. To get the IP address, subnet mask, g ateway, and DNS values, contact your Internet S ervice Provider (ISP).
If you have a Windows computer, you can also get these va lues through your computer.
You can use ADSL modems that support DHCP i f your network requires a Static I P address. ADSL modems that
support DHCP also let you use Stati c IP addresses.
