Blenderverdi

Blenderåpningen er et hull som slipper lys inn i kameraet. Blenderhuset inneholder tynne metallplater som åpnes og lukkes for å gjøre blenderåpningen bredere eller smalere og dermed kontrollere mengden lys som slipper inn i kameraet. Størrelsen på blenderåpningen er nært relatert til lysstyrken i bildet: jo større blenderåpningen er, jo lysere blir bildet; jo mindre blenderåpningen er, jo mørkere blir bildet. Vær oppmerksom på at jo større blenderverdien er, jo mindre er blenderåpningen. For eksempel er en blender satt til 5.6, større enn en blender satt til 11.

Lukkerhastighet

Lukkerhastigheten, som er en viktig faktor når det gjelder lysstyrken i et bilde, henviser til tiden det tar å åpne og lukke utløseren. En lav lukkerhastighet gir mer tid til å slippe inn lys. Bildene blir mer lyssterke, men motiver i bevegelse kan bli uskarpe. På den annen side gir høy lukkerhastighet mindre tid til å slippe lyset inn.
