Receiving a fax
Receiving automatically in ANS/FAX modeTo use this mode, you must attach an answering machine to the TELjack
on the back of your machine.
1. Press and hold Rcv.Modefor about 2 seconds until the display changes.
please repeat it until the display shows ‘ANS/FAX’ in the display
windows.
2. Any incoming voice calls will be answered by the answering machine. The
caller can then leave a message on the answering machine.
3. If a fax tone is detected on the line, the fax receive mode is automatically
activated.
Notes:
• If you have set your machine to ANS/FAX mode and your answering machine is
switched off, or no answering machine is connected to the machine, the machine
will automatically go into fax receive mode after several rings.
• If your answering machine has a ‘user-selectable ring counter’, set the machine
to answer incoming calls within 4 ring.
• If you are in TELmode (manual reception) when the answering machine is
connected to your machine, you must switch off the answering machine, or the
outgoing message from the answering machine will interrupt your phone
conversation.
2Operation
Receiving manually in TEL mode To use this mode, you must attach a regular phone to the TELjack on the
back of the machine, you can answer voice phone calls and receive faxes
manually.
1. Press and hold Rcv.Modefor about 2 seconds until the display changes.
please repeat it until the display shows ‘TEL’ in the display windows.
2. Answer an incoming call by picking up the receiver.
3. If you hear a fax tone, or if the person calling asks you to receive a fax,
press Start/Enter on the machine or a regular phone, press the characters
9 (star-nine-star) on the regular telephone to initiate reception.
Note : The characters 9 (star-nine-star)are preset at the factory as the
default remote receive start code for machine with a regular phone. The
asterisks in the code are fixed characters, but you can be changed. For more
information, see on page 2.43.
4. Replace the handset. The machine begins receiving and returns to
standby mode when reception is complete.
