Die Netzwerkauthentifizierung, die Verschlüsselung (WEP), der Schlüsselin- dex und das Kennwort eines Zugangspunktes werden im Verwaltungspro- gramm für Zugangspunkte konfiguriert.

Weitere Informationen zur Sicherheit erhalten Sie, indem Sie die Sicherheit- seinstellungen des Zugangspunkts überprüfen oder sich bei Ihrem WLAN-Ad- ministrator informieren.

Wenn Sie eine Verbindung zu einem vorhandenen Computer-zu-Computer- Netzwerk (Ad-hoc-Netzwerk) herstellen, müssen Sie das Kennwort angeben, das Sie festgelegt haben, als Sie das Computer-zu-Computer-Netzwerk erst- malig eingerichtet haben. Sie müssen nicht die Netzwerkauthentifizierung oder den Schlüsselindex angeben.

• Netzwerkauthentifizierung: Zu den Netzwerkauthentifizierungsoptio- nen gehören "Offenes System" (Open System) und "Gemeinsamer Schlüssel" (Shared Key). Wenn Sie "Offenes System" (Open System) auswählen, wird keine Authentifizierung durchgeführt (Verschlüsselung wird dagegen unterstützt). Wenn Sie "Gemeinsamer Schlüssel" (Shared Key) auswählen, wird ein WEP-Schlüssel für die Authentifizierung ver- wendet. Die Standardeinstellung ist "Offenes System" (Open System).

•Datenverschlüsselung (WEP): Der Standard IEEE 802.11 WEP (Wired

Equivalent Privacy) definiert zwei Verschlüsselungsstufen: einen 64-Bit- Schlüssel (der manchmal durch 40 Bit dargestellt wird) sowie einen 128- Bit-Schlüssel.

•Schlüsselindex: Wählen Sie den aktuellen Schlüsselindex für die vom Zugangspunkt verwendete Verschlüsselung aus (zwischen 1 und 4).

•Verwendung eines Schlüssels für die Verschlüsselung: Klicken Sie auf "Kennung verwenden" (Use pass phrase) und geben Sie 5 (bei 64-Bit) oder 13 (bei 128 Bit) alphanumerische Zeichen (0-9;a-z oder A-Z) ein.

8.Wenn die Abschlussmeldung angezeigt wird, klicken Sie auf OK.

Das Verbindungssymbol ( ) wird vor dem Namen des verbundenen Profils an- gezeigt, wenn eine WLAN-Verbindung zu einen Zugangspunkt vorhanden ist.
