3.2 Command set

This section lists all of the ATA commands the drives use. Only the commands with unique implementation for the drives are discussed in this manual. For information about the ATA interface, refer to Working Draft X3T10.2008D Rev. 6, Information Technology—ATAttachment-3 Interface ATA-3. Additional information about the drive commands and features is provided in the Seagate ATA Interface Reference Manual, 36311-xxx, Small Form Factor Specification, SFF-8011 Rev 1.1, Sep- tember 18, 1993, and Small Form-Factor Committee Specification Draft SFF-8055i, January 8,1996, Revision 1.0, Preliminary Document.

The table below lists all commands that the drives use. The following abbreviations are used:

FR	Features register
SC	Sector Count register
SN	Sector Number register
CY	Cylinder register
DH	Drive/Head register

nThis register does not contain a valid parameter for this command.

yThis register contains a valid parameter for this command. In the Drive/Head register, both the drive and head parameters are valid for this command.

DThe Drive/Head register contains a valid drive parameter for this command. The head parameter is not valid for this command.

Note. Read DMA, Read Long, Read Sector, Read Verify Sector, Write DMA, Write Long and Write Sector support with retry and without retry commands.
