. The default homepage opens. This sets up the Internet ac-
cess or the subsequent configuration. For the first startup, we recom-
mend that you first close Internet Explorer and configure your e-Mail ac-
count. To do this tap

continue as described in Chapter "e-Mail Settings", page 69.
This concludes the setting up of the Internet Connection. However, do
take note of the following information.

When the screen is dark, press the button on the right next to the
screen and above the control key. SIMpad is ready for operation immedi-
ately after activation. The screen shows the user interface as it was when
you last switched the device off.
To switch off SIMpad, press .
While on, if SIMpad has not been used for a time, it switches off automat-
ically to save power. If the power supply is ensured (AC power or if the
battery is sufficiently charged) no data is lost when the device switches
off automatically (see “Notes on Battery and Duration of Data Storage”).
To switch back on again, press the button .
If you are using SIMpad for the first time, Internet Explorer (see
page page 49) starts automatically. If this is a subsequent config-
uration, you must open Internet Explorer by tapping

Dial-up Connection

An existing Internet connection is not disconnected if you switch
off SIMpad during a dial-up connection.
