5 RECEIVE AND TRANSMIT
qSelect the desired operating channel with [Y]/[Z].
When a signal is received:
•“ ” indicator appears on the display.
•Squelch opens and audio is emitted from the speaker.
-Further adjustment of [VOL] may be necessary at this point.
wPush and hold [PTT] to transmit then speak into the microphone.
•Do not hold the transceiver too close to your mouth or speak too loudly. This may distort the sig- nal.
•The transmit indicator “ ” ap- pears on the display.

IMPORTANT:
To maximize the readability of the transmitted signal, pause a few sec. after pushing [PTT], hold the transceiver 4 to 6 in. (10 to
15 cm) from your mouth and speak at a normal voice level.
NOTE:
The transceiver has an auto power save function to conserve the battery power. The power save function activates automati-
cally when no signal is received for 5 sec.
