Typing text

You can select from a number of keyboards and input methods to type text containing letters, numbers and other characters.

To switch keyboards

1When you enter text, touch and hold the text field until the Edit text menu appears.

2Tap Input method.

3Select a keyboard.

Android keyboard

You can use the Android keyboard provided by Google™ to enter text.

1Change the character case and turn on the caps lock. For some languages, this key is used to access extra characters in the language.

2Display numbers and symbols.

3Open the input settings menu to make a change.

4Use voice input. You need an Internet connection to use this function.

5Enter a space.

6Tap and hold to display frequently used symbols.

7Multi-function key. For example, this key functions as a smiley key when you enter message text.

8Delete a character before the cursor.

To display the Android keyboard to enter text

Tap a text entry field.

To hide the Android keyboard

When the Android keyboard is open, press .

To use the Android keyboard in landscape orientation

When you enter text, turn the phone sideways.

For the keyboard to support this feature, landscape mode must be supported by the application you are using, and your screen orientation settings must be set to automatic.
