Selecting the cassette type

YoucanusebothHi8andstandard8mmvideocassettesonyourcamcorder.Whenyou useaHi8videocassette,recordingandplaybackarecarriedoutintheHi8system. Whenyouuseastandard8mmvideocassette,recordingandplaybackarecarriedout inthestandard8mmsystem.

However,ifyourecordonaHi8videocassetteintheLPmode,recordingiscarriedout inthestandard8mmsystem.

Ifyouplaybackataperecordedonadifferentvideorecorderonyourcamcorder,the playbackmodeisautomaticallyselectedaccordingtotheformatinwhichthetapehas beenrecorded.

ThisHi8systemisanextensionofthestandard8mmsystem,andwasdevelopedto producehigherqualitypictures.

YoucannotplaybackataperecordedintheHi8systemcorrectlyonvideorecorders/ playersotherthanaHi8videorecorder/player.

When you play back

Theplaybackmode(SP/LP)isautomaticallyselectedaccordingtotherecordingsystem inwhichthetapehasbeenrecorded.ThequalityoftherecordedpictureintheLP mode,however,willnotbeasgoodastheSPmode.

Foreign 8 mm video
