Troubleshooting
If you experience any of the following
difficulties while using the system, use
this troubleshooting guide to help
remedy the problem before requesting
repairs. Should any problem persist,
consult your nearest Sony dealer.
The power does not turn on.
tCheck that the AC power cord
(mains lead) is connected securely.
The remote control does not function.
tThe distance between the remote
control and the main unit is too far.
tThe batteries in the remote control
are weak.
The disc lid does not open and you
cannot remove the disc even after you
press Z.
tTry the following:
1Press and hold N and Z on the
main unit for more than
5seconds to open the disc lid.
2Remove the disc.
3Disconnect the AC power cord
(mains lead) from the wall outlet
(mains), then reconnect after
several minutes.
The system does not work normally.
tDisconnect the AC power cord
(mains lead) from the wall outlet
(mains), then reconnect after
several minutes.
[A new software version is available.
Please go to the “Setup” section of the
menu and select “Software Update” to
perform the update.] appears on the
TV screen.
tSee [Software Update] (page45) to
update the system to a latest
software version.
“PRTECT”, “PUSH” and “POWER”
appear alternately in the top panel
display.
tPress "/1 to turn off the system,
and check the following items after
“STBY” disappears.
• Are the + and – speaker cords
short-circuited?
• Are you using only the supplied
speakers?
• Is anything blocking the
ventilation holes of the system?
• After checking the above items
and fixing any problems, turn on
the system. If the cause of the
problem cannot be found even
after checking all the above items,
consult your nearest Sony dealer.
“LOCKED” flashes in the top panel
display when you press any button on
the main unit.
tSet the child lock function to off
(page41).
“D. LOCK” appears in the top panel
display.
tContact your nearest Sony dealer or
local authorized Sony service
facility.
“E xxxx” (x is a number) appears in the
top panel display.
tContact your nearest Sony dealer or
local authorized Sony service facility
and give the error code.
