Communicating without Access Point (ad-hoc)

An ad-hoc network is a network in which a local network is created only by the wireless devices themselves,

with no other central controller or Access Point. Each device communicates directly with other devices in the

network. You can set up an ad-hoc network easily at home.

 

 

 

To communicate without Access Point (ad-hoc), proceed as follows:

1Turn on the Wireless LAN switch on the front side of the computer.

2 Double-click the network icon in the taskbar displaying Wireless Network Connection. The Connect to Wireless Network dialog box appears.

3Click the Advanced button.

The Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box appears.

4Select the Wireless Networks tab.

5Click the Add… button.

The Wireless Network Properties dialog box appears.

6Enter a Network name (SSID)*. You can choose a 6-digit name.

7Select the Data encryption (WEP enabled) check box.

8Select the Network Authentication (Shared mode) check box.

9Clear the The key is provided for me automatically check box. Some information becomes visible.
