For using your video camera recorder with this pack, refer to the operating instructions of the recorder.

This Sports Pack SPK-IP55 is exclusively for use with the Sony digital video camera recorder DCR-IP55/DCR-IP55E/DCR-IP45/DCR-IP45E.

The splash-proof sports pack SPK-IP55 is water- and moisture- resistant, making it possible to use the Sony digital video camera recorder.

Notice

•Before you start recording, make sure that the video camera recorder is working correctly and there is no water leakage.

•Sony does not accept liability for damage to the video camera recorder, battery, etc., when using the sports pack or for the cost of recording if water leakage occurs as a result of incorrect use.

Precautions

•Do not subject the front glass to strong shock, as it may crack.

•Avoid opening the sports pack in the sea or at the beach. Preparation such as installing and changing a cassette tape and the “Memory Stick” should be done in a place with low humidity and no salty air.

•Do not throw the sports pack into the water.

•Avoid using the sports pack in places with storong waves. •Avoid using the sports pack under the following situations:

–in a very hot or humid place.–in water hotter than 40˚C (104˚F).–at temperatures lower than 0˚C.

In these situations moisture condensation or water leakage may occur and damage the equipment.

•Use the sports pack for no longer than one hour at a time in temperatures above 35˚C (95˚F).

•Do not leave the sports pack under direct sunlight for a long period of time. If you cannot avoid leaving the sports pack under direct sunlight, be sure to cover the pack with a towel or other protection.

•If sun oil is on the sports pack, be sure to wash it off thoroughly using lukewarm water. If the sports pack is left with sun oil on its body, the surface of the sports pack may become discolored or damaged. (such as cracks on the surface)

Maintenance and Precautions

Water Leakage

If water happens to leak in, stop exposing the sports pack to water immediately.

If the video camera recorder gets wet, take it to the nearest Sony service facility immediately.

Repair costs must be borne by the customer.Notes on the Waterproof Gasket

•Check that there are no scratches or cracks on the waterproof gasket as they may allow water to leak in. If there are scratches or cracks, replace the damaged waterproof gasket with a new one.

Do not remove the waterproof gasket with a metal tool or a tool with a sharp point.

•After checking that there are no cracks or dust on the waterproof gasket, coat it slightly with the supplied grease using your finger. This will prevent wearing.

While applying the grease, recheck for cracks or dust.Never use cloth or paper for greasing as the fibers may cling.

Do not use any type of grease other than that supplied, as it may damage the waterproof gasket.

Preparing

For details, please refer to the operating instructions supplied with your video camera recorder.

DPreparing the Video Camera Recorder

1Remove the wrist strap, filter or conversion lens from the video camera recorder.

2Install the battery pack.3Insert the cassette tape and the “Memory Stick”.

Unlock the safety tab on the “Memory Stick” and the cassette tape, and make them possible to record images.

Be sure that a tape and the “Memory Stick” has enough space to record images.

4 Attach the reflex prevention ring.

The reflex prevention ring to a certain extent prevents reflection of the lens ring section of your video camera recorder on the front glass.

5When shooting with the LCD screen, turn the LCD panel over and move back to the video camera recorder with the LCD screen facing out.

6Set the functions, such as focusing and lightning, to AUTO.

EInstalling the Video Camera Recorder

Turn the POWER switch of the video camera recorder to “OFF” (CHG), and leave the POWER switch of the sports pack “OFF”.

1 Attach the camera mounting shoe.

Use the metal parts of shoulder strap as shown in the illustration.

2 Release the buckles.

1Slide the unlock button in the direction of the arrow, and release the buckles.

2 Open the rear body.

Coat the front glass with anti-fogging lens solution.

Coat the surface of the glass on the front of the sports pack with the supplied anti-fogging lens solution.

3 Remove foreign materials.

Remove foreign materials such as dust, sand or hair from the waterproof gasket, the groove and any surface it touches. Then, put the grease evenly on the waterproof gasket.

If the body is closed with such materials present, these areas may be damaged and water may leak in.

4 Installing the video camera recorder.

Align the camera mounting shoe with the guide on the front body.

Insert the video camera recorder by pushing the rear of the camera mounting shoe until it clicks. Check the knob on each side of the camera mounting shoe to ensure that it locked properly. Be careful not to pinch the cords then.

Note

Be sure to keep the video camera recorder horizontal when installing it. Inserting the video camera recorder into the front body vertically may damage the camera mounting shoe and the front body.

5 Connect the plugs to the each jacks of the video camera recorder. (See illustration E-5)

1 Connect the remote control plug to LANC jack.

2Then, connect the microphone plug to A/V jack.

6 Close the rear body.

Then secure the rear body, and fasten the buckles until they click.

Note

•Be careful not to pinch the cords when closing the rear body.

•When the video camera recorder is put into the sports pack, the center of the lens may shift with respect to the front glass of the sports pack. This will cause no problems when revording.

FPreparing the Sports Pack

1 Adjust the grip strap.

Holding the sports pack so that the tips of your finger can easily touch the POWER switch, START/STOP button and ZOOM button, pull the strap to adjust its length.

2 Attach the shoulder strap.

•Sony décline toute responsabilité quant aux dommages que peuvent subir, entre autres, le caméscope, la batterie, lorsqu’ils sont utilisés avec le caisson, ou au coût d’un enregistrement perdu à la suite d’une infiltration d’eau résultant d’un usage inadapté du caisson.

Précautions

•Ne pas cogner le verre avant. Il pourrait se fissurer.

•Evitez d’ouvrir le caisson en mer ou à la plage. La mise en place ou le changement de cassette et du “Memory Stick” doivent être effectués à l’abri de l’humidité et de l’air salin.

•Ne pas jeter le caisson dans l’eau.

•Evitez d’utiliser le caisson dans une mer agitée. •Evitez d’utiliser le caisson dans les situations suivantes :

–un endroit très chaud ou très humide.–eau à plus de 40˚C (104˚F).–températures inférieures à 0˚C.

Dans ces situations de l’humidité risque de se condenser ou ou de l’eau peut s’infiltrer et endommager l’appareil.

•N’utilisez pas le caisson plus d’une heure lorsque la température est supérieure à 35˚C (95˚F).

•N’exposez pas le caisson au rayonnement direct du soleil pendant une période prolongée. Si vous ne pouvez éviter de laisser le caisson en plein soleil, recouvrez-le d’une serviette par exemple.

•De l’huile solaire tombée sur le caméscope peut décolorer ou endommager le caisson marin (craquelures) s’il reste exposé au soleil. Lavez soigneusement l’huile avec de l’eau tiède pour éviter ces problèmes.

Entretien et précautions

Infiltration d’eau

Si de l’eau s’infiltre à l’intérieur du caisson, sortez immédiatement le caisson de l’eau.

Si le caméscope est mouillé, présentez-le immédiatement au service après- vente Sony le plus proche.

Les réparations sont à la charge du client.Remarques sur le joint d’étanchéité

•Assurez-vous que le joint d’étanchéité n’est ni éraflé ni craquelé, sinon de l’eau risque de s’infiltrer dans le caisson. Replacez le joint s’il est endommagé.

N’enlevez pas le joint d’étanchéité à l’aide d’un objet métallique ou pointu.

•Après avoir vérifié qu’il n’y a ni fissure ni poussière sur le joint d’étanchéité, recouvrez-le avec le doigt d’une légère couche de la graisse fournie, de façon à le protéger de l’usure.

Lorsque vous appliquez la graisse, revérifiez la présence éventuelle de craquelures ou de poussière.

N’utilisez pas de chiffon ou de papier pour graisser le joint d’étanchéité parce que des fibres risquent d’adhérer au joint.

DPréparation du caméscope

1Retirez la lanière, le filtre ou le convertisseur du caméscope.2Installez la batterie.3Introduisez la cassette et le “Memory Stick”.

Déverrouillez le taquet de sécurité du “Memory Stick” et de la cassette pour pouvoir enregistrer.

Assurez-vous que l’espace est suffisant sur le “Memory Stick” et la cassette pour l’enregistrement.

4 Fixez la bague antireflet.

La bague antireflet empêche partiellement la bague de l’objectif de se refléter sur le verre du caisson.

5Pour les prises de vue avec l’écran LCD, retournez le panneau de l’écran LCD et rabattez-le contre le caméscope avec l’écran LCD orienté vers l’extérieur.

6Réglez les fonctions telles que la mise au point et l’éclairage sur AUTO.

EInstallation du caméscope

Mettez le commutateur POWER du caméscope en position “OFF” (CHG) et laissez le commutateur POWER du caisson sur “OFF”.

1 Fixez le sabot de montage du caméscope.

Utilisez les pièces métalliques de la bandoulière comme indiqué dans l’illustration.

2 Desserrez les boucles.

1Faites glisser le bouton de déverrouillage dans le sens de la flèche et desserrez les boucles.

2Ouvrez la partie arrière du caisson.

Passez du liquide antibuée (fourni) pour objectif sur le verre avant.

3 Enlevez les matières étrangères.

Enlevez par exemple la poussière, les grains de sable ou les cheveux de la surface du joint, de la rainure et de toutes les surfaces en contact. Insérez ensuite de manière régulière le joint dans la rainure.

Si vous fermez le caisson sans nettoyer le joint, la surface du joint risque d’être endommagée et de laisser l’eau s’infiltrer.

4 Installation du caméscope.

Alignez le sabot de montage du caméscope sur le guide de la partie avant du caisson.

Introduisez le caméscope en poussant l’arrière du sabot de montage du caméscope jusqu’à ce qu’il s’encliquette. Vérifiez si les boutons situés de part et d’autre du sabot de montage du caméscope sont correctement serrées. Ne pas coincer les cordons.

Remarque

Veillez à tenir le caméscope à l’horizontale lorsque vous l’installez. L’insertion du caméscope à la verticale dans le caisson peut endommager le sabot de montage et la partie avant du caisson.

5 Branchez les fiches sur chaque prise du caméscope. (Voir l’illustration E-5)

1 Branchez la fiche de télécommande sur la prise LANC.

2Branchez ensuite la fiche de microphone sur la prise A/V.

6 Fermez la partie arrière du caisson.

Fixez ensuite la partie arrière et fermez les boucles de sorte qu’elles s’encliquettent.

Remarque

•Veillez à ne pas coincer les cordons lorsque vous fermez la partie arrière.

•Lorsque le caméscope est dans le caisson, l’objectif peut être légèrement décalé par rapport à la vitre du caisson. L'enregistrement s’effectue toutefois sans problème.

•Put the waterproof gasket in the grooves evenly, with the tapering side up. Never twist it. (See illustration A)

•The useful life of the waterproof gasket depends upon the maintenance and the frequency of use, but we recommend changing it once a year. To replace the waterproof gasket, please consult the nearest Sony dealer. Be sure to check the water leakage after replacing the waterproof gasket.

Checking for the water leakage after replacing the waterproof gasket

Check for the water leakage before installing the video camera recorder. Close the sports pack without installing the video camera recorder, and keep the sports pack submerged under water at a depth of about 15 cm (6 inches) for about 3 minutes and then check for water leakage.

After Recording

After recording in a location subject to sea breezes, wash the sports pack with fresh water with the buckles fastened thoroughly, then wipe with a soft dry cloth. It is recommended that you submerge the sports pack in fresh water for about 30 minutes. If it is left with salt on it, metal portions may be damaged or rust may form and cause water leakage.

•If you get suntan lotion or other greasy substances on your sports pack, wash it off with tepid water.

•Clean the inside of the pack with a soft dry cloth. Do not wash the inside of the pack.

•Do not use any type of solvent such as alcohol, benzine or thinner for cleaning, as this might damage the finish.

Anti-fogging lens solution

Coat the surface of the glass with the supplied anti-fogging lens solution. This is effective in preventing from fogging.

How to use the anti-fogging lens solution

Apply 1 or 2 drops of the liquid to the front glass and the glass of the eye cup and wipe evenly to spread the liquid out by using the swabs, a soft cloth or tissue paper.

When storing the sports pack

•Attach the spacer supplied with your sports pack to prevent wear of the waterproof gasket. (See illustration B)

The SONY mark should be on the outside.

Using the Sports Pack

GRecording

A picture is recorded on the tape.1 Turn the POWER switch to “ON”.

It turns on the power, and lights the CAMERA lamp.

2 Press START/STOP button to start recording.To stop recordingPress START/STOP. Press again to resume recording.To finish recordingPress START/STOP button then turn the POWER switch to “OFF”.

HWhen Shooting with the LCD Screen

You can shoot with the reflection in the mirror.1Slide the mirror hood while holding the OPEN mark and open it.2Open the wings and insert the projections into each hole.To close the mirror hoodUndo the projections on the both wings, and close the lower wing first.

Zooming

•Keep the W side pressed for wide-angle. •Keep the T side pressed for telephoto. Press it gently for a relatively slow zoom.

Notes on recording

•If you leave the video camera recorder for 5 minutes or more with a cassette inserted in Standby mode, the video camera recorder goes off automatically. This prevents battery and tape wear. To resume Standby mode, turn the POWER switch to “OFF” and then turn it to CAMERA again.

•The POWER switch of the sports pack has priority over the POWER

Vérification de l’étanchéité du caisson après le remplacement du joint

Assurez-vous que le caisson est bien étanche avant d’installer le caméscope. Refermez le caisson étanche sans installer le caméscope à l’intérieur et laissez-le immergé dans l’eau à une profondeur d’environ 15 cm (6 pouces) pendant 3 minutes environ et, et vérifiez si de l’eau ne s’est pas infiltrée.

Après la prise de vue

Après une prise de vue dans un endroit exposé aux embruns marins, rincez le caisson étanche à l’eau douce en laissant les boucles fermées, puis essuyez-le à l’aide d’un chiffon doux et sec. Il est conseillé de laisser le caisson dans l’eau pendant 30 minutes environ. S’il reste du sel sur le caisson, les pièces métalliques risquent d’être endommagées ou de rouiller, ce qui peut entraîner une infiltration d’eau.

•Si de la crème de bronzage ou d’autres substances grasses tambent le caisson, lavez-le à l’eau courante.

•Nettoyez l’intérieur du caisson avec un chiffon doux et sec. Ne rincez pas l’intérieur du caisson étanche.

•Ne pas utiliser de solvant, comme l’alcool, la benzine ou le diluant, pour le nettoyage car ces produits peuvent endommager la finition.

Solution antibuée

Appliquez sur la vitre un peu de solution antibuée pour objectif (fournie). Cette solution est un moyen efficace pour éviter la formation de buée sur la vitre.

2 Fixez la sangle.

Utilisation du caisson

Détachez les parties saillantes des deux volets et fermez d’abord le volet inférieur.

Zoom

•Appuyez sur le côté “W” de la touche pour élargir l’angle de prise de vue.

IRecording a Still Picture

The still picture is recorded on the “Memory Stick”.1Slide the POWER switch along following the arrow, and light the MEMORY lamp.2Press PHOTO button softly.

The green mark stops flashing , then lights up. This makes it possible to record a Still Picture.

3 Press PHOTO button deeper.

The image when you pressed PHOTO button deeper will be recorded on the “Memory Stick”.

Above-stated operationYou can also record a still picture by lighting CAMERA lamp.

Note

While using the sports pack, the following operations are not available; NightShot and recording with the flash.

JRecording moving pictures on the “Memory Stick”

1Slide the POWER switch along following the arrow, and light the MEMORY lamp.

2Press START/STOP button.

KPlaying Back with the Remote Commander

You can play back pictures on the LCD screen, using the Remote Commander (supplied with your video camera recorder).

You cannot hear the sound.1Slide the POWER switch along following the arrow, and light the VCR lamp.2Press NPLAY on the remote.

Use the remote commander for all other functions including STOP, REW and FF. The remote sensor is located on the front lower part of the sports pack.

Point the remote commander toward the remote sensor to control the video camera recorder.

Note

The picture on the mirror looks turned sideways.

LRemoving the Video Camera Recorder

Before opening the sports pack, wipe moisture off the sports pack and yourself. Do not allow water on the video camera recorder.

3 Disconnect the remote control plug from the LANC jack, and the microphone plug from the A/V jack.

Note

Be sure to disconnect the plugs by holding the plug part, not the cord part before taking out the video camera recorder. Otherwise, the plugs and the video camera recorder may be damaged.

4 Pull out the camera mounting shoe.

Holding the camera mounting shoe by the knobs on both sides of it, press the knobs and extract the video camera recorder.

5 Detach the camera mounting shoe.

•Appuyez sur le côté “T” de la touche pour une prise de vue au téléobjectif. Appuyez légèrement sur la touche pour un zoom relativement lent.

Remarques sur la prise de vue

•Si vous laissez le caméscope 5 minutes ou plus en mode de veille avec une cassette à l’intérieur, le caméscope s’arrête automatiquement pout protéger la batterie et la bande de l’usure. Pour réactiver le mode de veille, réglez le commutateur POWER sur “OFF” puis sur CAMERA.

•Le commutateur POWER du caisson a priorité sur le commutateur POWER du caméscope.

•Pendant la prise de vue avec l’écran LCD orienté vers l’extérieur, le compteur n’apparaît pas.

IEnregistrement d’une image fixe

L’image fixe est enregistrée sur le “Memory Stick”.

1Faites glisser le commutateur POWER dans le sens de la flèche de sorte que le témoin MEMORY s’allume.

2Appuyez brièvement sur la touche PHOTO.

La marque verte cesse de clignoter et reste allumée. L’image peut alors être enregistrée.

3 Appuyez à fond sur la touche PHOTO.

L’image qui apparaît lorsque vous appuyez à fond sur la touche PHOTO est enregistrée sur le “Memory Stick”.

Vous pouvez aussi enregistrer une image fixe lorsque le témoin CAMERA est allumé.

Remarque

Lorsque vous utilisez le caisson étanche, vous ne pouvez pas utiliser les fonctions suivantes : NightShot et Enregistrement au flash.

J Enregistrement d’images animées sur le “Memory Stick”

1Faites glisser le commutateur POWER dans le sens de la flèche de sorte que le témoin MEMORY s’allume.

2Appuyez sur la touche START/STOP.

KUtilisation de la télécommande pour la lecture

Vous pouvez revoir les images sur l’écran LCD en utilisant la télécommande (fournie avec le caméscope).

Vous n’entendrez pas le son.

1Faites glisser le commutateur POWER dans le sens de la flèche de sorte que le témoin VCR s’allume.

2Appuyez sur NPLAY de la télécommande.

Vous pouvez aussi utiliser la télécommande pour les autres fonctions, par exemple STOP, REW et FF. Le capteur se trouve à l’avant, au bas du caisson.

Dirigez la télécommande vers le capteur pour activer les différentes commandes.

Remarque

Sur le miroir, l’image apparaît inversée.

LRetrait du caméscope

Avant d’ouvrir le caisson, séchez-le bien et essuyez-vous. Ne laissez pas tomber d’eau sur le caméscope.

1Mettez le commutateur POWER en position “OFF”.2Relâchez les boucles et ouvrez la partie arrière. (Voir l’illustration E-2)

3 Débranchez le fiche de télécommande de la prise LANC, en débranchez ensuite la fiche de microphone de la prise A/V.

Remarque

Débranchez la fiche avant de sortir le caméscope pour ne pas endommager la fiche ni le caméscope. Tirez sur la fiche et non pas sur le cordon.

4 Sortez le sabot de montage du caméscope.

Tenez le sabot de montage par les boutons latéraux et appuyez sur les boutons pour extraire le caméscope.

5 Détachez le sabot de montage.
