Troubleshooting Sound (Microphone)
My microphone does not work
If you are using an external microphone, check that the microphone is plugged into the microphone jack correctly.
My microphone volume is too high or too low
Proceed as follows to adjust the volume.
1Click Start and then Control Panel. The Control Panel window appears.
2Click Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices and then Sounds and Audio Devices.
3Click Volume under Sound recording on the Audio tab.
4See if the Select check box for Microphone Balance is selected. If not, click the check box.
5Move the slider up or down to adjust the volume.
6If the volume is still too high or too low, select Advanced Controls from the Options menu. The Advanced button appears for Microphone Balance.
7Click the Advanced button and select/deselect Microphone Boost or +20db Gain under Other Controls to adjust the volume.
